That's one of the two species I study... crowned lemurs. IIRC, that's a Franz Lanting shot taken in Ankarana. I study them about 20 km away in a rain forest (and elsewhere).
I'll be posting from the field in some 4 weeks or so.
WOO HOO!!!
Okay, that's just cool that you know who the photographer is.
It's even cooler that you're headed to the field.
Has the political turmoil calmed down a bit there?

I'll be keeping low when I stay at the capital. Otherwise, all seems to be fine where I'll be going.
That may have been a Lanting photo... that's my guess. It looks like the lead photo he took for a NatGeo story about 15-20 years ago.
I'll be teaching at the university a little, then I'll be in the so-called unprotected forests, looking at traditional sacred groves, and human/nonhuman primate interactions. I'll be able to post through late June, but NO idea what will happen after that. ;)
I do know one thing... by the end of the field season, Tilly or colchar will be leading the TOWEL NASCAR fantasy league.
2014, 2011, and 2009 Lemur Loving CTN NASCAR Champ. No lasers were used to win these titles.

In an entirely different direction, for those looking for lemurs today, check out the front page of
http://www.live.com!
Did you have anything to do with that?
I wish! If so, lemurs would figure prominently in the rotation!
Only if they can play defense...

I posted lemur pics on my Facebook page. They're in Album #1 of my Duke 25th Reunion pics.
And I know the photographer for many of those pics--clbunchofnumbers!

Thank you for this tip. Hopefully, I will remember it. I just tried it and it works great - now to train myself to use it.

I tried it on the post above and yes, it worked great. If this post shows up, it worked again!
