Well, this is touching. As colchar said, I hadn't requested them, and this is my first time logging on in a few weeks, and here are all these ass vibes for me. Major ones, at that.
Seriously, thanks guys. I may or may not be back until late next week, but I'll just say that I'm pretty much right where I want to be (burgeoning apathy is generally a good sign that you're ready), and I feel confident about the exams' outcome. I'd describe my current state of mind as anxious, but not nervous.
Soon, I will be in full Most Wonderful Time of the Year mode (which, word of warning, will probably be especially insufferable this year), and back in action around these parts.
Thanks again, and keep the ass vibes flowing (that sounded unintentionally gross).

I hope I wasn't out of line in starting this thread. I've just been right where you are at the moment and wanted to throw some support your way.

On another note, you missed Operation Overtake.

Not out of the line at all...I really appreciate it.
And I was at least vaguely aware of Operation Overtake. I do not, however, plan to catch up with the ~3000 LTE 2.0 posts I've missed upon my return to the land of the living.

But you'll be in the usual post-comps slump so you won't be doing anything else. Might as well spend some time catching up on everything you've missed ;)

Yeah, but we talked about you in the LTE, so you'll miss all of the gossip.

IIRC, he has 24 hours to work on his exam. Per his FB status I think he started yesterday, thus should be done by tomorrow.

Hmmm, interesting way to do them. For mine, I did a five hour written exam (three questions) and then a week later did a three to four hour oral exam in which I was examined on my written exam, then on the questions I chose not to answer on the written, and finally it was a free-for-all. But the way Wilson is doing his sounds interesting. I wonder what the format for his oral exam will be...

He told me he calls the department admin assist, tells her he's ready, and she emails the test to him. That is when his 24 hr clock starts. I think he has orals after thanksgiving, but I could be wrong.

I took one of my grad school oral exams with walking pneumonia. Good times. (Cold evolved into walking pneumonia as a result of attending the Duke-Michigan game in Dec '92. Well worth it.)
