Hmm... the NASCAR thread has more than half the posts of the "Ymm, Beer" thread.

Re: NASCAR 2009
It'd be pretty cool to see JJ win four in a row, but he's young and will have shots at more, I'm sure. I want to see MM win it all! At his age, to go out with a championship would pretty much cement his place in the HoF, and I'd love to see that! I'm sure that would be some kind of record, too.

I'm rooting for JJ as he would make history by winning 4 in a row.bjornolf wrote:It'd be pretty cool to see JJ win four in a row, but he's young and will have shots at more, I'm sure. Re: NASCAR 2009
Bobby Allison was 45 when he won a championship, so Mark Martin would also make history if he won one at 50. ;) Plus, he's never won one. I always like to pull for the old guy AND the underdog, and MM encompasses both. Besides, with his team and his cars, JJ could win four in a row ANOTHER time. I wouldn't count him out. How many more chances will Mark have?TillyGalore wrote:I'm rooting for JJ as he would make history by winning 4 in a row.bjornolf wrote:It'd be pretty cool to see JJ win four in a row, but he's young and will have shots at more, I'm sure. If we use your theory about "his team and his cars," then Mark will have another chance next year. After all, they are both part of the Hendrick team.bjornolf wrote:Bobby Allison was 45 when he won a championship, so Mark Martin would also make history if he won one at 50. ;) Plus, he's never won one. Re: NASCAR 2009
Yea, but Mark Martin is like Brett Favre (not AS bad, as he hasn't been jerking people around, but same idea). He's been saying he was going to retire and go to a partial season for the last three years. This might be his last season. Especially since he's done so well. I could see him wanting to go out on top, or in second, as the case may be.TillyGalore wrote:

Re: NASCAR 2009
Exactly! The guy can't make up his mind, he has in a way jerked around fans with his "I'm going to retire, no I'm going to run a partial season, no I want to win a championship" mentality. He is exactly like Favre in that he chose to race with a team with a proven track record for producing champions. JJ has worked his way up in this organization. It ain't easy to win 3 Cups in a row, never mind win 1 cup. I've been pulling for JJ since 2007 to make history. Kind of hard to switch gears now.bjornolf wrote:Yea, but Mark Martin is like Brett Favre (not AS bad, as he hasn't been jerking people around, but same idea). Jr wins the poll at Phoenix...
... Martin Truex, Jr, that is.
No changes to my selections, despite the good performance of Casey Mears.
Remember to check that you haven't selected someone for whom you have used up your choices.

Re: NASCAR 2009
Just trying to keep it real...what ever that means. Someone suggested today on Nascar Radio on Sirius that Harvick could be in for a triple. Well, KB couldn't do it last week and he's a better driver IMHO. So, not likely.

Re: NASCAR 2009
So when exactly is this triple that Harvick is going to get?

He finished second in today's race. Seems Keselowski has a lot of friends.Lavabe wrote:So when exactly is this triple that Harvick is going to get?

Re: NASCAR 2009
According to ESPN.COM:
1) Bobby Labonte will race the #71 for TRG next year.
2) Sources say that next year Jamie Mac will be racing the #1 for Earnhardt Ganassi.
3) Martin Truex Jr moves over to MichaelWaltripRacing.
4) Toyota signed an extension to continue through 2012 to be the auto manufacturer for MichaelWaltripRacing.
Sounds like the off-season is ready to begin.
