Re: LTE 2.0
Anyone float away yet? We're pretty soggy here in Derm, but I betcha it's soggier East of here. I just brought in my big rolling recycling bin. It's been open collecting rain since they picked up the recycling sometime yesterday. It had a good 6 inches in the bottom. There's a slight taper from the top to the bottom, but not much. I figure we've gotta have had at least 4 inches of rain in the last 24 hours.

Home today. Holiday for Veterans Day. Awful rainy day. I'm just gonna sit on the couch and drink coffee all day.
We have the Muppet Show on DVD. The kids love it. ;)
And Happy Veterans' Day to all the veterans on our board. Without you, we wouldn't have the freedoms we take for granted every day. Which reminds me, I need to go call my dad and my brother. I'm also making brownies for my neighbor, who's a marine who's now served in two wars.

Well my laptop is dead, or close to it. The internal video controller on the logic board is toast. Good news: data is intact and easy to recover and I get a new laptop. Bad news: new laptop on backorder. So I'm gonna be on a bit less until I get my new laptop recreated. Sucks.

Please thank your Dad, your brother, and your neighbor from a grateful citizen in Kansas. To all the vets - on the board and related to those on the board - THANK YOU!bjornolf wrote:DukeUsul wrote:I miss the Muppet Show.

Your statement is so nice. I love when people remember veterans. So many in my family are (and were) veterans. Thank you.bjornolf wrote:DukeUsul wrote:I miss the Muppet Show.

We're supposed to get at least 7 inches here at the beach. I'm sure it's over half way there from today already.DukeUsul wrote:Anyone float away yet? Re: LTE 2.0
Tonight on PBS, there will be a program about the troop greeters in Bangor, Maine. They have greeted over 900,000 troops returning from overseas. Some of the greeters are veterans, but not all. They are there at all hours to greet the planes. What a wonderful gift they offer our troops. The program also shows how being a greeter gives meaning to their lives.
It premieres tonight on POV: The Way We Get By
Link to synopsis of documentary: http://www.pbs.org/pov/waywegetby/film_description.php
The filmmaker was interviewed on NPR today - his mother is one of the greeters featured in the film. He talked about how he was in the habit of calling her to check in and he started having trouble reaching her, even at 11pm. Turns out she was at the airport greeting returning troops. His mother was on and they had some callers that had been greeted.
I'm looking forward to seeing it.

What is your total rainfall so far for the last ~24 hours?
What is forecast for the next 24 hours?

2--A LOT
3--More of A LOT with wind. If I were a surfer I'd be happy. But I'm not, so it sucks.

You might be able to surf down the streets of Morehead City with all that rain and wind. :roll:CameronBornAndBred wrote:1--Nope..just steadily miserable all day. Calling for sideways overnight.devildeac wrote: Is it raining sideways at the coast again?

When we lived over on the beach, one of neighbors had a "No Wake Zone" in his yard after hurricanes. It would take a couple days before we saw pavement again.devildeac wrote:You might be able to surf down the streets of Morehead City with all that rain and wind. :roll:CameronBornAndBred wrote:1--Nope..just steadily miserable all day.
