coyotes

Post by Very Duke Blue » November 9th, 2009, 11:34 pm

it has come to our attention that we have coyotes on and around our land. we here them howling from different directions ai the same time. sounds like several large packs. its eerie. our son-in-law looked up coyotes in north carolina. they were put here by the state to help control the deer population. wonder what the state is going to do to control the coyote population?

Runs them over randomly with cars.
I saw a coyote about 15 years ago in Durham and it blew my mind. It was raining, and I thought it was a wet dog before I drove up next to it on 751. Obviously not a dog, I thought it was cool...but sad. Wet coyote.

Feed them ram. I understand from a reliable source that they are tough stringy and hard to digest! =))

We had coyotes in San Jose. When I lived up against the hills in San Jose, the coyotes would come right down to our back yard. Fortunately, I had two chain link fences separating my yard from the rancho that abutted our lot. I never saw a coyote in my yard, but they would often come right up to the fence(s) and stare at us. Every now and then, the neighbors would miss their kittens or bunny rabbits. . . forever. :(( #-o

In the summer we would hear the pups barking at night: ooh ooh ah-oooooooooooooooh!!! It's quite an eerie sound.

To avoid coyotes coming too close to your yard, keep your pet food indoors, don't allow your small pets to roam outdoors, and erect two tall chain link fences around your yard. =)) =)) =))

I was reading somewhere that marking your backyard would keep coyotes away. They'll generally avoid humans.

we have a 6 ft chain link fence on the side yard. i had it put in before we go jack. i wanted to guard against other animals getting in the yard, mostly because of rabid animals. i never thought of coyotes. last year was the first time we became aware of them. 6 or 8 of them surrounded our grandson and son-in-law in their deer stand.

Or you could invite Wilson over for a post-comp bash in the back yard. :Pirate:

I read devildeac's response after reading the bit about Wilson peeing. Missed VDB's comment in between and thought devildeac was referring to Wilson's you know what.

That's kind of scary... What did they do to get them to leave? I sure wouldn't want to be stuck in a small wooden structure with a pack of coyotes around me! ^#(^

They went away on their own. I wish they would drown in this rain...I know, that will not happen. :(

Not sure how rural it is where you live, but you can always shoot them if firing a shotgun where you live won't lead to the police at your front door.

They've become a problem in the city here. People's dogs have been attacked at parks in very urban areas.
