Does anyone watch "Kings"?

Post by bjornolf » April 27th, 2009, 12:51 pm

I think it's one of the best shows on TV, and I'm afraid it's done for. After moving it to Saturdays for one week, they've now yanked it for summer. Maybe in the summer it'll do better without as much competition. I hope so, cause I love it. Anyway, I was just wondering if anybody else watches it and what they think.

For those of you that haven't seen it, it's basically a story about what happened in Israel in the old testament, but set in a world with the culture and technology of almost modern day America. The King's name is Silas (like Saul) and it centers around the relationship between him and a young soldier named David Shepherd (obviously based on David). The King even has a daughter named Michelle (like Saul's daughter Michal, who married David in the bible) who's interested in David. David saves the king's son by single-handedly destroying a Goliath tank in their war against Gath. That's how he becomes famous and comes to the king's attention. The character's are very human and have their flaws, and I think it's very well acted (though David's pained facial expressions can get a little annoying).

My husband and I watched it - didn't know what happened to it (the DVR thought it recording it - but it turned out to be Law and Order)

At least Kings has a premise that hasn't been done to death - I hope it really does come back in the summer, the show has real potential.
All that is gold does not glitter, not all those who wander are lost; the old that is strong does not wither, deep roots are not reached by the frost.
