Linux

Post by CameronBornAndBred » September 24th, 2009, 3:01 pm

Any Linux users here? That's probably a stupid question..I'm sure there are. Anyways, I just installed Ubuntu (dual-boot) and am using it now..haven't had a chance to check it all out yet, but so far it's pretty cool. I've also got a Gentoo DVD I burned, might play around with that one at home.

I'm running CentOS in VMware and I'm looking at a copy of OpenSuSe 11.0. That reminds, I meant to get that installed. Creating another VMware instance now. Thanks for the reminder!

I've had either standalone Linux boxen or dual-boot boxen going back to 1998 or so. Red Hat 5 or 6 IIRC is where I started. Right now, my only set up is Ubuntu on VMWare on my Win Vista Quad Core Dell.

Same here - except Windows 7 not Vista - the Mr Windosr and My daughter plus my laptop that I do work on from time to time are Vista, my desktops are all Linux - server is Microsoft because it is easier to run Exchange that way.

I'm tying in my Evolution mail to my exchange server now. Took a little while to get the authentication correct, but it's downloading my mailbox now.

I've been running Linux (was running Kubuntu but, recently converted over to Ubuntu, but still running KDE Server) along with VirtualBox (for my M$ Windows apps) on my Dell Quadcore.

Very s-w-e-e-t.

Nerds aren't cool. Dorks are uncool nerds. Geeks rule the roost.

I found a translator for the binary/hex thread, but I can't find a translator for this one. ;)

I am not a nerd. I am a geek. I am absolutely NOT a dork.

There you go. See if that helps.

I am shocked (shocked I tell you) that none of our historians/linguists have pointed out that the term geek originally referred to circus/carnival performers who had grotesque acts (like biting the heads of chickens) .

When y'all pulled out "geek" in response to my original "Nerds" pic post in this thread, I set about looking for a pic of somebody biting a chicken's head. I didn't immediately find anything, and then I got bored. And scared.

I'll take either, nerd or geek. Sometimes I dork out too. Either way, I like my life and stuff.
