Who was the first person to look at a cow and say, "I think I'll squeeze these dangly things here, and drink whatever comes out!"

I think someone much higher than me could answer this question. And I mean MUCH HIGHER, OLDER, MUCH OLDER, like BC.

I have to disagree with this. I think it was the friend who watched him try it with a bull that tried the cow next.knights68 wrote:Perhaps the same guy who, moments before, figured out he couldn't do the same for a bullcl15876 wrote:Who was the first person to look at a cow and say, "I think I'll squeeze these dangly things here, and drink whatever comes out!"

The cow makes sense - all mammals nurse - so it wouldn't have been any big jump once they saw a calf nursing.
I have always wondered how drunk and/or hungry was the first guy who ate a lobster? Nothing about the exterior of that critter would lead you believe it was edible. Same with crabs. Nasty looking but oh so good...

How do you suppose that humans first figured that they should attempt to eat Collard Greens?

The only yummy greens are spinach, most varieties of lettuce, beans (lima and string) and asparagus.Lavabe wrote:Greens are yummy...OZZIE4DUKE wrote:People should not eat collard greens. I eat lots of green vegetables. I like chopped spinach, I even like brussel sprouts, to go with beans, peas, broccoli, asparagus (although they make your pee smell vile when you eat them), lettuce and most of the rest. Just not collard or mustard greens - WAY too bitter for my taste.devildeac wrote:Greens are yummy...Lavabe wrote:People should not eat collard greens. Perhaps it is just the matter of how they are prepared before consumption? How were they cooked before you ate 'em?

Interesting point regarding the asparagus' affect on urine's odor: It is still unclear as to why asparagus changes the odor of urine, but there is some consensus that not everyone can detect this odor. Studies are showing that only 1 in 5 people can actually detect the odor. I'm not sure if that means the 20% are genetically the deficient, or if the other 80% of people are.OZZIE4DUKE wrote:I eat lots of green vegetables. All that really matters is that I am detector. And I concur, the smell is vile.

I was able to get my kids to eat asparagus by telling them they'd have "Funky Monkey Pee" if they ate their asparagus. They still do the "Funky Monkey Pee" cheer if they discover that I'm cooking asparagus.Miles wrote:Interesting point regarding the asparagus' affect on urine's odor: It is still unclear as to why asparagus changes the odor of urine, but there is some consensus that not everyone can detect this odor. Whatever it takes to make them eat their vegetables. . .
