Re: LTE 2.0
That would work except that one company is left holding the bill and the other company gets to charge the high rate. Too many situations like that and company A needs to raise rates on everyone or go out of business. (The raising rates on everyone happens to some degree anyway, we are finding with strictrer rules on teen drivers that some of the losses associated with them are going down).devildeac wrote:I thought of that but wouldn't that all balance out with the switching that would go on? The company picking up the "damaged goods" would then get to charge the 2x or 3x rate.YmoBeThere wrote:Understood, but what often happens if you do that after the accident(in particular) the policy goes elsewhere. So, you(the insurance company) have paid for the accident but won't earn back the money over time.devildeac wrote:My objection has been the triple rates from the inception and not the reverse of starting off lower and then doubling or tripling the rates AFTER a violation and/or accident.
I would have loved a rebate with my kids as two of them (both girls) never had a violation or accident in their 1st three "inexperienced driver" years. My son wasn't so bright or careful but got his speeding violation reduced to "9 miles over" and avoided any insurance points and/or increased premiums. He paid for it in "other ways."

The heavy rain held off long enough for me to play 9 holes today. While I was eating lunch (a steak quesadilla) it started to rain sideways.

Re: LTE 2.0
Took Katie to the NC Museum of Life and Science so mommy could get some work done at home. Had some very good daddy-daughter time today. The rain mostly held off here, apart from some occasional spittle. The place was a madhouse. Apparently every kid in Durham was there today. The stroller traffic was atrocious. Thank the good Lord Katie is so well behaved, I can't imagine if she were acting like some of the other kids. And I'm so happy we were members, there must have been 50 people in line to pay to get in. We walked right by. Some guy walked up to the membership counter "so if I join the museum today, can I skip this whole line?"

Re: LTE 2.0
Tilly lives like 3 blocks away from the museum. I haven't seen it since my ex was an animal keeper there, so I might make an early visit that day (kansas/house warming). Or make a longer visit another day...I want to see the new dino trail.DukeUsul wrote:Took Katie to the NC Museum of Life and Science so mommy could get some work done at home. Adult admission is $12.50 and annual membership for two is $85 (our Katie would get in free). So we just need to go four-ish times per year to make it worth it. If you have a little kid anywhere near Durham, it's a no-brainer.
