Ugh. LDL, HDL, triglycerides, or all of the above?
I only passed the triglycerides (I borrowed the notes from devildeac before taking that test). \m/ Overall cholesterol wasn't good, HDL could be much better, but the bad one was LDL... 171. :-q L-) I think I need some Roto-rooter for my blood vessels.

In lieu of Roto-Rooter, I'll be on Zocor. :-??

On the bright side, I have great blood pressure, and I don't have diabetes.
:ymparty:
I've been lucky so far. My LDL is not so good, but my HDL and triglycerides are good enough that I haven't had to go on meds ... yet.

Dinner was roasted eggplant with marinara and Mozarella, grilled chicken breasts, potato salad and a garden salad with roasted almonds and ranch dressing.

The HDL can be raised with:
1. smoking cessation
2. a regular exercise program
3. medication AND...
4. mild/moderate alcohol consumption (I'm talkin' 1-2 drinks/day and no, folks, that's not one 750 ml bottle of wine/beer or a fifth of liquor per day  )
Rule out #1... never touched the stuff. [-x

As for #2, Georgia and I are starting to get into a routine of two 45-minute walks each day. As for the alcohol consumption, guess I better check the stores for O'Fallon and Schlafly brews. :-bd

Breakfast: Bloody Marys (Pepper Vodka, Mrs. T's, fresh cracked pepper, chopped celery leaves, juice from a jar of pickled jalapenos, copious dashes of Texas Pete), omelet with havarti cheese and a mushroom medley, and a side of bacon.

Lunch: Cold pizza (pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, onions) and roasted tomatoes with fresh basil, blue cheese and balsamic.

Dinner: BBQ Chicken (Lemon pepper dry rub then marinated in some Mothership Wit. Smoked for an hour and then grilled/finished with Sweet Baby Rays), grilled corn and baked beans.

Home fries with green peppers and ham (or was it green ham and peppers?), oatmeal, and a nectarine.

Lunch was a potluck at church.

I had broccoli salad, three bean salad, cheesy potato casserole, silver queen corn on the cob, butter beans, a slice of the quiche I made, and a thin slice of caramel pound cake with caramel frosting.

YUM! Church potlucks. Food prepared by talented southern cooks. I am happy.

dinner: We're bringing dinner in to the Duke Chapel tonight to feed the Duke Lutheran student group. I did tons of stuff with the group as a student and now we're members of the church that supports them. Will be good to give back. We're bringing in tacos.

Breakfast was a bowl of cereal.... I like to mix two kinds... this week it's Kashi Autumn Wheat and Post Cranberry Almond Crunch topped off with sliced banana and lots of milk. Had a cup of vibrant dark roast coffee shortly after I got up.

Lunch was a sandwich made of sliced roast chicken breast (the one marinated with a citrus marinade), Romain lettuce on honey wheat bread toasted and spread lightly with Helmann's Mayo (light) on one slice and Ken Steak House Dressing Country French dressing (light) on the other. On the side, half of a very large juicy, sweet Pink Lady apple followed by a glass of milk.

Don't know what supper will bring. Our family gets together to go out for Sunday supper, so it depends on where we end up eating.
