Where did you go? Knights and I are always looking for a good Chinese restaurant.
Thai China Buffet on Hwy 55 in RTP. It's about the best we can get right in RTP.

My next favorite lunchtime Chinese is Red Dragon in Morrisville. It's just a bit too far from my new office to hit frequently though. It's better than Thai China.

Another occasional lunchtime stop for us is Orient Garden in Durham.

We are having a company lunch today at one of our local Chinese buffet's. It's called "Tsunami", which is not Chinese. They also have sushi, which is not Chinese. And they have General Tso's chicken....also not Chinese. :|
But they are damn tasty and have tons of food. And they have ice cream. Once again...not Chinese.

I'm sure there are some places that serve more authentic dishes than others. After returning home from my business trip to China, I asked the hostess at my favorite Chinese place if they had an authentic menu for Chinese speaking customers, and if so, could we ever order off that menu. She explained to my Chinese colleague that they did indeed have such a menu, and some of the dishes were authentic except that they could not get the ingredients they needed, so they have to substitute a lot. Sadly, we were there for lunch and they only serve from this menu at dinner.

I would say that the potstickers and steamed dumplings that I've had in the US were pretty damn close to the potstickers/dumplings I had in China. Ask for a side of vinegar instead of soy sauce. :-)
