I created an ad on Facebook that will run until the end of the month. I set a spending limit of a whopping 3 dollars per day, which equates to about 5 clicks per day. Those who are in the crazietalkers group won't see it, I've excluded you. (You are already here :) ) Anyways, it will be interesting to see if it brings any entirely new members in (ie. no DBR affiliation). By the way, entirely new members can spread cool new sites for free by word of mouth to their friends. :D
Once it clears FB review, it will go live.

Over yonder has it's place, as a spot of record and statistical information. What they lack is the warm feeling of camaraderie that used to exist there. This genuine depth of feeling for each other is openly expressed here. The thoughts below hit the spot.

If you're in what you would consider a 'tight spot', it is so fine to know you have supporters. What peace of mind. If you find yourself in times of trouble, Mother Mary comes to...oops  ...didn't mean to break into song. It just happened. Seriously folks, the level of support you'd get from me, and I believe all the rest of the members(friends) here, will be very uplifting to your spirits. I understand firsthand.

The atmosphere here is certainly more supportive and not about endless arguments. I still read and sometimes post over there, but the atmosphere has been changing significantly over the past six months or so...... feels like the newer members who are attracted to that site are adolescent in their infatuation with fantasy above reality...... endless discussions about people (Duke players, Duke recruits or potential recruits) they do not know, have no contact with. The fantasizing about what these real people think, what their motivations are seems to take on a life of its own. (-|
They, over there, need to be careful that they don't devolve too far from what they were. The member base has grown so much for them, that it's only natural that they will acquire more rotten apples for spoiling the group. I wish them well.

I'm glad I came here. It's the cream of the crop. You guys ROCK! \m/

Definitely much more personal and friendly tone here, both in terms of asking for support and getting it (whether it's vibes, shin-kicking, or smilies). Haven't met any a y'all IRL yet, but would love to drop in on a brunchgate if the opportunity presents...

As for over yonder, I'll still go there for their hoops linkage and to lurk around a bit, but they might have expanded beyond the maximum size a close-knit (pun intended, BD!) community can support... My pain point is the high number of people who think any season without a Final Four trip is a failure. My second pain point is recruiting in 2010 or even beyond - I have no patience there, but that's the main topic during the off-season...

Anyway, thanks for asking me over. Hope my stuff is worth reading every once in a while..

May I add a little rant? I'm so tired of the wading through BS over there written by people who project what they think is in someone else's head or project someone else's motivation.... someone they do not know, have never met and likely will never meet in this lifetime. (I'm speaking of those who talk about recruits, players and coaches as if they know these people.) If the summer is too hard to take without basketball, maybe they could try developing a useful hobby like reading good books or software development or volunteering at the homeless shelter..... Enough already! @-)

And don't forget the fact that we have no mandated transaction/maintenance fees, no solicitations, and no ads.

I would still, however, like to donate to the cause, CBaB.

Just remember to bring beer to whichever brunchgate you are attending. :D
Also, with the front page now finally under development, anyone will have the chance to contribute content. That's better than money. (Still not better than beer)
