I do know now what 4/5 was referring to. It was good to see as a start, but we’ll see what happens from here.

Re: The Political Junkie Thread
I was given points then banned for a week OY for posting something no worse than what anyone else posted in the thread about Maluach:
"This is attacking a relatively minor issue in way too big of a way. Who cares if it impacts many other people, even for a brief period of time? Talk about making a mountain out of a mole hill. Except a mountain of a young man (Khaman) is being horribly impacted. Not their problem."
I responded by calling the mod Trumpian because they made a big deal out of a little deal without giving any sort of warning. Perhaps I should have taken a deep breath before responding but I was totally fed up as a few idiots were getting away with murder. And of course said mod had to comment on my history of violations and threatened to permanently ban me. Perhaps I deserved a warning. But I did not deserve an immediate infraction. I am quite sure that more rational mods would have reacted differently. Send me a note and say please stop. And make that clear publicly. Let's be adults. How about just deporting me to El Salvador?
I only regret that I will not be able to provide my dinner menu as the defending DBR Masters pool champion.
Back to the topic at hand. It feels like just when things are bad, they get worse. Trump and his cronies continue to outdo themselves. I really do not see what the end game is. People keep making excuses for this. It is not OK. We have a minimum of 21 more months of this (assuming somehow we can flip the house and/or senate) and likely almost four years. But no, he was not going to do any of the things he talked about and was ignorant about Project 2025. Good Lord how dumb this country is. Let me off the ride.

That's pretty much why I'm taking a mental health break from Facebook for these past couple of months.CrazyNotCrazie wrote: ↑April 8th, 2025, 9:09 pmbut I was totally fed up as a few idiots were getting away with murder.

Fortunately the vast majority of my FB friends are on the right side of things. But the few who aren't I have put in the category where they don't show up in my feed. I am not on Facebook often but I only check those other people very rarely, when I am emotionally able to deal with their craziness.CameronBornAndBred wrote: ↑April 8th, 2025, 9:24 pmThat's pretty much why I'm taking a mental health break from Facebook for these past couple of months.CrazyNotCrazie wrote: ↑April 8th, 2025, 9:09 pmbut I was totally fed up as a few idiots were getting away with murder.

I am a news/politics junkie but I need to deactivate the NY Times news updates on my phone. Almost nothing good comes of them and again, if I am not braced for the bad news, they can really shift my mood.
I was texting with a good friend who is a social worker/therapist today. She lives in a purple leaning blue area (outer NJ suburbs of NYC). This whole situation has been great for her business. Which is the last thing she wants, but she is a great person so is helping the best she can.
I think the best investment response to this situation is companies that make anti-anxiety meds.

Re: The Political Junkie Threa
I signed out of that site on Sunday morning when I saw that posts in that thread were deleted, including mine, and that the thread was shut down “because public policy” and “because speculation about the impact”. I respect their choice to keep their heads in the sand but I choose not to be part of it anymore. These are not times to make nice to the degree of avoiding mention of news events that impact a Duke student athlete, particularly for fear of insulting a bigot or fascist.CrazyNotCrazie wrote: ↑April 8th, 2025, 9:09 pmI was given points then banned for a week OY for posting something no worse than what anyone else posted in the thread about Maluach:

I don’t see how this is not market manipulation.

Yup. I wish that when the Dems had more control they had been more aggressive about putting through legislation about insider trading by government officials. Granted, I'm sure most of those who are profiting off of those are not government people but rather donors, friends (if Trump has friends?) etc. But the whole thing stinks. I feel like Eddie Murphy in Trading Places. Don't look much like him and not nearly as funny, but still feel like him.

Someone’s making a killing on the inside. This is classic market manipulation.

The people who are supposed to be on top of this are instead doing Trump's dirty work and going after all the meanies who weren't nice to him. Because he has never done anything wrong in his life and deserves to be worshipped like a diety.CameronBornAndBred wrote: ↑April 9th, 2025, 4:49 pmChances of anyone ever being prosecuted?

I had a momentary vision of Trump as the beleaguered Dan Akroyd Santa, eating a smoked salmon that he had stuffed in his coat, and I thank you for that.CrazyNotCrazie wrote: ↑April 9th, 2025, 2:30 pmYup.
