On top of all other evil perpetrated in the last couple of days, Hair Furor has removed the US Constitution page from the White House website. https://www.whitehouse.gov/about-the-w ... stitution/

Also, there’s this. https://www.science.org/content/articl ... and-hiring
I’m sad, angry and scared, all at once. I knew this was coming as soon as I heard that the anti-science lunatic won. Wondering if I should start looking for jobs outside the US.

And all of his followers are rejoicing and think this is the greatest thing in the world. A good friend from Duke posted on social media how evil the Bishop who spoke down to Trump was. My friend is the father of three teen boys. I don't want to get into a fight on social media but is he raising his kids to be like Trump? To be nasty, mean-spirited, angry, divisive, childish. And don't give me the garbage that they are just giving back what the Dems were doing. Were the Dems perfect? No. But these wild swings to the other extreme are horrible. And all of these billionaires sucking up to him. They have plenty of money. Don't they want to keep their dignity?
It is going to be a really long four years. I truly question whether this country will survive it.
And to anyone who said "I didn't think he was going to do the things he said" (I know that is no one here), they should have their keys taken away and be locked up for stupidity.

The list of boneheaded, authoritarian, white nationalist actions is just going to continue to grow.
Putting a hold on federal NIH meetings and grants has devastating consequences even when temporary.
The DOJ has ordered the civil rights division to suspend all pending cases.
One EO directed the DOJ to remove protections for trans prisoners from Prison Rape Elimination Act guidelines
Govt agencies were directed to purge all DEI related personnel.
PCLOB which is a bipartisan intelligence oversight committee and just had all but one of its members removed - rendering it functionless.
The list will continue to grow. Piss on the dumbasses that thought it would be a good idea to bring this shitler back. Oh…and the price of eggs just went up you dumb mf’s.

Amen. That says it all. My friend posted that he is a lifelong Episcopalian and this is what is wrong with the church today. As I noted, I didn't want to get into a public fight, but it is ironic that I am a lifelong Jew with a child now in an Episcopalian school and I could not be happier with the Episcopalian church. I have tried not to let politics interfere with friendships but I have basically severed ties with this formerly close friend because in our rare interactions, knowing that we have major political differences, he constantly has to be a funny guy and make nasty remarks - one time his wife actually kicked him and told him to shut up.jipops wrote: ↑January 22nd, 2025, 10:04 pmIMG_5321.jpegCrazyNotCrazie wrote: ↑January 22nd, 2025, 9:57 pmAnd all of his followers are rejoicing and think this is the greatest thing in the world. I am too disgusted to check - are most of these horrible actions by Trump coming straight out of the Project 2025 playbook that he claimed to know nothing about? And I loved his comment about not weaponizing the government, yet that is exactly what he is doing. As I suggested long ago, I wish Biden had weaponized the government more during his lame duck days.

Today, The Felon required all agency heads to send out this email to all personnel. Employees are required to rat on each other or face consequences.Echoes of Stalin.
Result: any hire other than a white Xtian straight man with no disabilities will get the hiring officer reported and investigated.
Dear agency employees,
We are taking steps to close all agency DEIA offices and end all DEIA-related contracts
in accordance with President Trump's executive orders titled Ending Radical and Wasteful Government DEI Programs and Preferencing and Initial Rescissions of Harmful Executive Orders and Actions.
These programs divided Americans by race, wasted taxpayer dollars, and resulted in
shameful discrimination.
We are aware of efforts by some in government to disguise these programs by using coded or imprecise language. If you are aware of a change in any contract description or personnel position description since November 5, 2024 to obscure the connection between the contract and DEIA or similar ideologies, please report all facts and circumstances to DEIAtruth@opm.gov within 10 days.
There will be no adverse consequences for timely reporting this information. However,
failure to report this information within 10 days may result in adverse consequences.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter.

Among other cuts, Hair Furor has halted all funding for the infrastructure bill. No more funding for ongoing highway repairs, new bridges, etc. That fiber optic cable hasn’t made it to your house yet? TS. He also cut all ACA-related funding to states. You thought Obamacare needed to be repealed but liked your ACA insurance? Tough luck.
I have reached the “Pottery Barn. You break, you buy,” stage. The problem is, it wasn’t broken in the way Hair Furor convinced his voters it was broken. They’re about to find out what real broken looks like, and it isn’t going to be pretty. Hair Furor and his billionaire backers will get richer while everyone else gets poorer. Yeah, fools, you just broke it for EVERYONE except the very people who broke the system in the first place. They are just going to get richer because of your gullibility.

When infrastructure funding is restored in districts whose GOP Rep voted against the Infrastructure Bill, that GOP will proudly claim that they fought for the project that they voted against.ArkieDukie wrote: ↑January 23rd, 2025, 7:17 amAmong other cuts, Hair Furor has halted all funding for the infrastructure bill. Prime example of why Trump wants control of the courts.
https://www.cnn.com/2025/01/23/politics ... index.html
That statement was made by John Coughenour, a Reagan appointee, as his reasoning for halting Trump's order to end birthright citizenship.“Where were the lawyers” when the decision to sign the executive order was made, the judge asked. He said that it “boggled” his mind that a member of the bar would claim the order was constitutional.

Re: The Political Junkie Thread
WTF? A federal "freeze" on all federal grants and loans, announced late last night (as far as I can tell so far) and effective at 5:00 today? That's not even possible, but is also just a complete violation of law. I hope we get a court to issue an injunction immediately.
Good lord, this man is evil. He needs to be stopped.

Apparently there is a hearing at 4. And yes, he is evil.Phredd3 wrote: ↑January 28th, 2025, 10:25 amWTF? As a California resident, I took special notice that last night he claimed that the military came into my state and “turned on the water” flowing south. Of course it is refuted by the Pentagon and Cal Water, but it socializes the idea of sending in the troops to intervene in California or any blue state. I live in Huntington Beach, and unfortunately there is a large, obnoxious population here that would love a Trump military takeover. I see them taking up arms themselves.
He is evil and he needs to be stopped.
Re: The Political Junkie Thread
Absolutely. His freeze has stopped government funding of Long Covid research which really hits home. F this guy.

Re: The Political Junkie Thread
I get NY Times alerts on my phone. They have become much more liberal about putting out posts so when Trump sneezes or some D list actor dies, they put out a post - it used to be maybe one or two a day. Now it is 10. Part of that is the flurry of Trump's ridiculous activity. Part of that is them reacting to everything. I think I need to shut them down - every time I see one on my screen my heart starts racing about what horrible thing Trump is doing. All of this stupid, vindictive, performative nonsense.
The country is going to pay the consequences for all of it. But of course the morons who voted for him will believe him when he blames everyone else for it.

It is worth noting that the freeze is still frozen, notwithstanding the injuction, and postdocs are not able to make timely rent payments.

As far as they are concerned, post docs are all libs studying gender studies and/or immigrants. So they don't care.Phredd3 wrote: ↑February 1st, 2025, 2:41 pmIt is worth noting that the freeze is still frozen, notwithstanding the injuction, and postdocs are not able to make timely rent payments.

And of course any problem is the fault of Biden, Democrats, DEI, migrants, transgender people, blue states, or some combination thereof.

Yes, they will blame anyone other than Trump. Their identity is too wrapped up in blaming the libs and in identifying with a fat man in makeup and heavy hairspray as an icon of power. I’ve given up on them, and I tell former friends so to their face. I don’t care about burned bridges.

Re: The Political Junkie Thread
Holy crap. I went over to the Faux News website to see how they were covering Pres Musk’s antics. The story is buried under a lot of other pro-Trump propaganda and is a positive spin on Musk’s plans to eliminate USAID. Absolutely nothing about him illegally infiltrating other agencies and stealing private data and state secrets. This is the #1 news network in the country, and they are completely whitewashing everything Trump and Musk are doing. Trump’s followers are completely in the dark about what is going on, and they won’t believe anything we say since Faux isn’t reporting it. We are so screwed.
