Duke Vs Temple, 9/2 – 7:30 KO Social Discussion Thread
Feel free to discuss anything non M&A related here.
It's way to early to have a feel for the weather yet, but at least there likely won't be any hurricanes knocking on our door. (I probably totally jinxed us by typing that.)

Re: Duke Vs Temple, 9/2 – 7:30 KO Social Discussion Thread
While waiting on our first tailgate to finally show up, I've been toying around with "kitchen" changes over the Summer. Depending on the menu, the large smoker may show up, but I've been working hard on making the setup much more efficient. One way that's going to happen is by making more use of my "smaller" propane grill. Of course going smaller means less cooking surface, but I found a fun and perfect solution! I ordered two long portable grills at a great price (under $50 each) and will be using those for anything that requires true and quick grilling. That includes the Costco dogs and wings, which have a great habit of taking up grill space no matter the menu. When folded up, the long grills take up barely any room at all in the car. The ABTs will still be going under the lid of the large cooker.
The best part? With this setup, I can carry both the grills AND all of the tables (and an extra tent for rain days) on my trailer, which makes loading and unloading so much simpler. (My trailer has some additional enhancements as well that aren't in the photo below.)

Looks like Card parking is about to get a lot more crowded. Duke calls it “Devil’s Gate”. There’s news about it over at goduke.com

Yep. We knew they were making major changes, including removing Card as a parking lot. This is the first actual mapping I've seen.August West wrote: ↑August 18th, 2022, 2:30 pmLooks like Card parking is about to get a lot more crowded. Duke calls it “Devil’s Gate”. Blue Devil Alley thankfully remains as is. With the addition of food trucks (in case you don't like my cooking) and the student tailgate, I am excited to see it all up and running. The Devil's Walk has been moved, which is a minor bummer, but it goes past the student tailgate and that's a smart idea.

Worked on prep today since we'll be camping next weekend and I won't have time.
The 1" T-Bones that are going in the steak burritos are smelling so good in my kitchen right now.

Re: Duke Vs Temple, 9/2 – 7:30 KO Social Discussion Thread
Here's an email from Duke Hospitality:
Good Morning Blue Devil Alley,
Thank you for being part of DevilsGate and Blue Devil Alley this upcoming season. With a week until our first game with Temple, we wanted to make sure you were up to date on all things related to the area.
Tent Location & Timing – Blue Devil Alley tents will all be in the first parking bay closest to the woods and the walkway between Towerview and Kville. Your tent, sign and any other ordered items will be set up for you FOUR AND HALF HOURS PRIOR TO KICKOFF. With Temple being a Friday game, we will set tents as the lot is cleared. If requested in advance, your tent will remain up for ONE HOUR POST GAME if you want to return after each game and spend time with your friends.
Parking – Blue Devil Alley tent holders are now the only people with parking access to the Card Gym lot. With increased activity out there to enhance game day, the students located in the other far side of the lot and food trucks and other enhancements, we will have heavy pedestrian traffic in the lot. To ensure all fans safety Duke Public Safety has mandated that ALL CARS MUST BE PARKED THREE HOURS PRIOR TO KICKOFF. For the Temple game, all cars must be in place by 4:45 p.m. -- This applies to those who have/want drop off passes!
Club Blue Devil -- With Club Blue Devil coming to Morton Plaza (the brick plaza outside of Cameron closest to Blue Devil Alley), we will have Knucklehead’s BBQ offering food and drinks for sale via credit card only. The menu for Club Blue Devil will be BBQ sandwiches, smoked chicken wings, Coca-Cola products and bottled water and a selection of beer and wine options. Alcohol purchased in this area must be consumed within the fenced in area around Club Blue Devil. All food and non-alcoholic beverages may be purchased and taken out of the area.
New Tailgate Package Ordering Option – If you are interested in pre-ordering food for your tent from Club Blue Devil, we will be taking orders up until 5 p.m. on Monday before each home game. Knuckleheads will bring the food and have it available for pickup on game day via credit card. Each tailgate package feeds 10-15 guests with total cost of $150. Pre-ordered by 5 p.m. the Monday before each home game. Package includes 2 pounds Knucklehead Pork BBQ, 2 pounds Knucklehead Beef Brisket, 1 quart each: Jalapeno Mac and Cheese, Green Beans, Baked Beans, 18 slider buns and BBQ Sauces. To order or if you have questions, please reach out to Pat Tracy at Patrick.tracy@duke.edu
Entertainment – A concert featuring Lonely The Band will be held for the Temple game in DevilsGate from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Live music/DJs will be out in the area for the other games. The Duke Radio Network Pregame Show will broadcast live from Morton Plaza near Cameron each game starting 90 minutes prior to kickoff. John Roth and Dave Harding will be live on site for the show. Food trucks will also be in the lot with cash and student points only accepted at these on game day.
Team Walk – The Duke football pregame walk will take place 2 hours and 20 minutes prior to kick off each home game. The walk will come through DevilsGate and head down to the Yoh building. Come out and support Coach Elko and the players as they make their way to the stadium.
Thanks again for your support of Duke football and Blue Devil Alley. We are excited to have tailgating and the season back in full swing next week and think that the enhancements to DevilsGate will add to your game day fun! Feel free to contact us with any questions.
Sincerely,
Duke Hospitality Team

Only if students are actually there two hours and twenty minutes before kickoff. Sorry for the negativity and I hope to be proven wrong.CameronBornAndBred wrote: ↑August 18th, 2022, 2:54 pmBlue Devil Alley thankfully remains as is. I'm gathering that there is quite a bit of enthusiasm among the freshman class, at least. We'll see a) if that's true, and b) if that lasts, at about 5:00 on Friday.Cheermom wrote: ↑August 29th, 2022, 1:56 pmOnly if students are actually there two hours and twenty minutes before kickoff.
