I hope America will hold Trump to account, but if not we may have to rely upon the Scots.

I hope so.
I'll never forget how the media drooled all over him all year last year.

When is somebody going to stop him? Is there nobody in the GOP with any decency?
"I spoke to the wonderful mother and husband of Ashli Babbitt, who was murdered at the hands of someone who should have never pulled the trigger of his gun," Trump said. "We know who is he is."

I'm so confused. I thought it was the Republicans who were the strong supporters of the police and evil Democrats hated the police and disrespected them?dudog wrote: ↑August 11th, 2021, 4:54 pmWhen is somebody going to stop him? Is there nobody in the GOP with any decency?

I suggest a fair trade - the media stops giving platforms for Trump and AOC to speak.

Florida is 25th in deaths per 100k. Considering Florida is the 2nd oldest state by average age of it's citizens, that isn't bad at all because (as we all know) the elderly make up the vast majority of Covid deaths.

We've been hearing this for 1.5 years. It sounds like so many people are actually rooting for it for political purposes.dudog wrote: ↑August 12th, 2021, 8:49 amDon't be so impatient. He's trying his best.mattman91 wrote: ↑August 11th, 2021, 10:50 pmAlso not true.

Re: The Political Junkie Thread
You are talking about over the life of the pandemic. I am talking about right now (hence my use of the term "Now"). Florida is a hot spot and is likely rapidly moving up the list of deaths per 100k. It is pretty universally acknowledged that the state is a mess right now. And most of the other states that are having the worst problems right now are also the ones that were quick to point fingers a year ago. Though in the spirit of honesty and full disclosure (something that seems to be lacking in America right now, where everything is black vs. white, I'm right vs. and you're wrong and I can never admit I am wrong), my home state of NY is still having plenty of problems.mattman91 wrote: ↑August 11th, 2021, 10:47 pmThat's....not trueCrazyNotCrazie wrote: ↑August 11th, 2021, 2:16 pmNow all the New York grandmas who moved from NY to Florida (there are a lot of them) are getting killed by deSantis.

Re: The Political Junkie Thread
Gotta say CNC and OPK, it's quite disturbing that you're buying into (in any way) the false equivalency of Trump and AOC.
AOC is part of a small, though vocal, minority of the Ds.
Trump is the Rs, and the Rs are Trump. Look no further than Lynne Cheney for absolute proof of that.
And advocating for the Green New Deal, even if it was ludicrous, is not equivalent to destroying our democracy.

I’m not saying they’re equivalent. I’m saying that I don’t want to hear from either of them.dudog wrote: ↑August 12th, 2021, 11:26 pmGotta say CNC and OPK, it's quite disturbing that you're buying into (in any way) the false equivalency of Trump and AOC.

Re: The Political Junkie Thread
Agree. Far from equivalent. Trump is pure evil - he only cares about himself and accumulating power and money and having people suck up to him. AOC's heart is in the right place, she just doesn't know when to shut up. Right or wrong, the Republicans portray her as the voice of the Democratic party, so if she doesn't shut up, she is going to cost us elections. She has a right to speak and, as dudog put it, she is the voice of a small but vocal minority of the party, and they have the right to have their voices heard. But the amount her voice is heard is way out of proportion to the size of that minority. Why doesn't the national press give more air time to moderate Dems like Conor Lamb or Josh Gottheimer or Mikie Sherrill?OPK wrote: ↑August 13th, 2021, 7:11 amI’m not saying they’re equivalent. So I would be willing to silence our vocal extremist in exchange for them silencing their vocal extremist - it would be a win for the Democrats.

Re: The Political Junkie Thread
Because the loudest voice wins the shouting match. That's why on the GOP side, Trump, Gaetz, MTG and the ilk are the new face of the party and why Liz Cheney is a has been.CrazyNotCrazie wrote: ↑August 13th, 2021, 9:46 amWhy doesn't the national press give more air time to moderate Dems like Conor Lamb or Josh Gottheimer or Mikie Sherrill?
