The AP rankings are out, and as of now, they include plenty of BIG-10 and PAC-12 teams.
I'm guessing that changes pretty quickly after week one.

https://www.espn.com/college-football/rankings

Duke's first opponent, ND, is 10th.

Kind of dumb to have polls which include teams who aren't playing. OTOH, I suppose they can claim they will be undefeated this year. :9f:

This one is a couple days old. Jim Sumner on Cornerbacks Coach Chris Hampton:

https://www.dukebasketballreport.com/20 ... es-defense

Josh Blackwell is quoted saying Hampton is a more technical coach. Hallelujah! Perhaps he will teach our corners to look back for the ball.

Another Sumner article:

Team is having another scrimmage today so hopefully there is a report up at GoDuke later.

Officially a dumpster fire. They talk about merciful ends, but I'm not optimistic about that being gifted to our football team next week.

I’m sure it goes without saying that we all love Cut and what he’s done. But I really need someone to tell me why next year is gonna be different than the last two.

In chat, Bob's comment was that it will be worse. And it's hard to argue.

My thought was that when FSU beats us soundly, that at least privately behind closed doors, Cut is likely to be shown the door if he doesn't step down. I never thought that would be something we'd see. They'll stamp it as a retirement, of course. I'm not sure that changes even with an FSU win, but I'm truly expecting we get wood shedded by the 'Noles.

We are going to lose lots of starters off this team with lack of depth a big issue. A big unknown is how many players decide to transfer.

Brittain Brown is having a good season at UCLA. Imagine the numbers Mataeo Durant could rack up on a team with a functional offense.

Duke is a four points underdog against FSU. I expect the spread will rise.

I’m cooking a pot of red beans with andouille sausage to eat over rice. It should be ready by kick-off. Hopefully, we don’t suck today but I’m going make every effort to have good time with food and a cold 🍺.

Would be nice to go out with a win. See you in chat :)

I won't be saying Chase Brice Sucks next year. :happy-bouncyblue:

Thankfully, he's transferring. I hope he finds a team that will play him; I sure am happy that it won't be Duke.

Kevin White (through Steve Wiseman) puts to bed any notion that anyone but David Cutcliffe will be coaching Duke's football team next year.
“Simply put, David Cutcliffe has more job security than you or I, and it isn’t even close,” Duke athletics director Kevin White told the News & Observer via email on Tuesday.

With Cutcliffe returning, news that surprises no one, program change will have to take place via staff improvements. Will Coach Cutcliffe hire an offensive coordinator? Nothing in past history indicates he will.

The 2021 season will be more of the same. I predict 3-9 and hope I’m wrong.

I wonder how his job performance review will go with his current one.

"So, tell me, how do you think you did this year?"
"I didn't catch the 'rona, so there's that."
"True, great job!"
