On a related note, I’m going back to work tomorrow by choice. At the beginning I did well and could get a lot accomplished; now I get distracted too easily and just cannot seem to stay focused. So, back to work I go.
Stay safe, I'm sure you are planning to! :9f:

Thanks! There are all sorts of safety measures at work. All employees have to pass through a screening checkpoint, and all are required to wear masks. Even then, capacity is only 30%. Probably safer at work than at the grocery store.

I’m now paying to park at work, at least until the train schedule gets back to normal.

On tap this morning: I’m presenting in lab meeting (via Zoom). I don’t have a computer or mic for my office computer, so I’m doing it from home. I have a webcam with a mic on order from Amazon; it should be here in time for the seminar I’m giving via Zoom on Thursday. If the new camera doesn’t work on the office computer, I’ll be presenting from home again on Thursday.

So many Zoom events...

My max was 4 in one day - a Sunday. Hosted a Sunday School class, attended after church fellowship zoom, finance meeting, and then youth group. None work related - unless you consider it volunteer work - but still too many meetings in one day.

I think I did 4 in one day once. Lab meeting, friends from grad school, departmental trainee seminars, then grad school class reunion for the Duke chem department. Two fun ones mixed with 2 work ones.

Coronavirus is bad in the Houston area. A friend who works as a nurse in the Galveston hospital told me they are near capacity as well. My guess is that this links back to the 119,000 cars that crossed the causeway into Galveston when the beaches opened, followed by similar numbers over Memorial Day weekend - along with jam-packed bars.

Hmmm, NC not seeing these #s but certainly an persistent increase since Memorial Day when we moved from Phase 1 to Phase 2 and beaches were heavily populated and one racetrack loaded with maybe 4K fans, no social distancing and minimal mask wearing. Why am I not surprised? Same/similar in SC and Florida.

I think a big part of the difference has to do with how the Governor is handling things. Greg Abbott of TX is especially bad. Remember the Lt Gov, Dan Patrick, is the guy who said the older generation should be willing to sacrifice themselves for the economy. A lot of heart, that one.

Really, really hope the numbers in NC don’t get that bad.

Apparently Myrtle Beach is a hotspot. Since the entire population of southside VA doesn't know there is any place to vacation but Dirty Myrtle, I see the numbers rising here in Varnish County.

The Patrick County Circuit Court Clerk's Office was closed yesterday and is closed today for a deep clean, after one of the clerks, or one of their family members (I've heard both), tested positive. Their exposure was tracked down to Myrtle Beach. :9f:

My sister told me that my niece was at Lake of the Ozarks. Not sure when she was there. She posts a lot of pictures on social media of herself hanging out with friends, no masks in sight. Younger people think they’re invincible.

I can neither confirm nor deny that I have found the infamous pancake bunny meme from long ago and saved it to my iPad. It may make an appearance on Facebook at some point.

We are staying local and riding various trails in KC area and Ottawa area. We may add in some kayaking
There will also be some wedding dress shopping. Others will golf on that day. It was fun to have 12 spread out for dinner last night. Hamilton watch on Friday.

I have friends who are medical professionals in the Houston area. It’s rough there. Sending vibes for continued good health for all your Houston area family members! :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

What’s everyone doing for the 4th of July? I have no plans whatsoever.
