Greetings friends and fans of our 8-1, Coastal Division leading, Duke Blue Devil Football team! It's finally time for yet another spectacular football Saturday at Wallace Wade Stadium and environs and, another, well...Brunchgate!

Unfortunately, due to the 8PM tip-off of the Men's basketball game we've been forced into an early kick-off and then, an early kick-out- of the parking lot/BDA. And, as much as we hate it, we're gonna have to scale back significantly on this Saturday's tailgate festivities. Given Saturday's tight window provided to football fans we'll be "traveling light" for this tailgate...even Blue Smoke will be given the day off.

As you'll notice when you review the menu we're gonna do another brunch only this time with more emphasis on the "unch" and a little less of the "br".

So, be sure to take it easy on Friday night (I'm looking at you Slates), dress warm and, show-up early on Saturday to watch and cheer on the #DukeGang as they do battle with the Hokies!

TBCC (+13):
Breakfast items- Blueberry muffins, Coffee Cake, Cinnamon-Apple Twist Bread, Cinnamon-Swirl Raisin Nut Bread.
Lunch items- Smoked turkey (see what we did there ;)?) and/or brisket sandwiches, Beef Stew, Bacon-Ranch Potato Salad.
Beverages- Hot Cider, Iced tea and SBMs.

Just a side not to add to TNT's eloquent prose above, the brisket (13 pounds) was smoked this weekend and is now taking up freezer space until game time, and TNT is smoking the turkey's (two 20 pounders) this week. We'll have the stew heated on a burner, and the meats will be warm as well.

The menu sounds great! My idea of brunch: brisket sandwich and a beer. The Green Family of four (Bob, Flora, Janice & Zeke) will be in attendance bearing $$ for the cookie jar.

The devildeac family body, err, attendance count will be finalized tomorrow. Most likely 4 total bringing a vegetable or fruit tray, $$ and beers to sample.

I'll be there but the +1 is questionable... TigerDevil is out but I may have a fellow Patrick Countian in tow. Either way, green-backs for the kitty and hopefully dead turkeys on the football field.

There will be either 3 or 4 from the Murray family Sam and his gal, and at least one other depending on family activities). We will bring cash.

My friends Sam and John Beaudry (who have been tailgating with us all year) will bring a total of 6. They will bring plenty of cash (as newcomers they've been particularly generous).

I will bring three of the Duke blue wine bottle lights that are made by the special education students at one of the schools in my system - they make t hem as both a learning project and a fundraiser. $10 each. This will probably be the last time I have any as they are shifting over to Christmas decorated bottles.
