You should move to New England...
Love the food there, but with your weather and the Red Sox, not going to happen!
Haha, yeah, its hard to hang out somewhere where they have actually won a couple W-S in the last 5 years.

(Ok, ok, yes the weather sucks for the most part. But at least for today it's incredibly nice. High in the mid 70's, not too humid and sunny.)

It is the having to wait another 86 years between W-S titles that would be the problem... ;)
Your paradigm of optimism

Haha, we've transferred that burden to others. Of course, a real glutton for punishment could move to the north side of Chicago where the weather is as bad or worse and they are going into their second century of futility.

To the original intent to this thread, I lived in Greensboro for 4 years before moving to Boston. I worked in Winston for two of those years. I didn't mind the area but the best part besides several friends from B-school moving there at the same time I did, was that it was nearly equi-distant to Raleigh-Durham and Charlotte. It was nice to attend the ACC tourney and some Duke men's games in the Greensboro Coliseum. I also got to watch alma maters play football against Wake. I'm rambling and am not much help to your inquiries, but I would conclude this way which was a saying we had in Charlotte when I lived there in the mid to late 90's. "It's a nice place to live, but I wouldn't want to visit."

Well I finally made it to Wake yesterday, but not without some bumps in the road. I went to a parade at the US Naval academy to see a friend of mine who is currently at plebe summer. I couldn't talk to him but it was great to see him. So after that I get on I-95 and proceed to sit in traffic for a few hours. I finally make it off 95 and get on US 360 W and proceed to get a speeding ticket in Charlotte County, VA. It like caging a dog all day and then expecting him not to run. They nailed me going 76 in a 60. And at the bottom of a hill. I thought it was borderline but now I'm $141 poorer. At least I don't get points on my license because I was out of state. Then I get into W-S and proceed to sit in more traffic. So yesterday was a rough day.

But I'm about to head out to Wilson's suggestion of Mountain Fried Chicken. I hope its good and today will be better than yesterday.

Sucks about your travel ordeal, but days with Mountain Fried Chicken are automatically good. Enjoy.

Now you need to visit one of the Lexinton BBQ style places in the area also. :D
I'd bet DitBD has some good suggestions. ;)

Yes, I could make suggestions depending on what you want..... I'll be headed out of the house in about 40 minutes or so (6P).

If it's BBQ, the best place is going to be Pig N Out on University Parkway North. Headed north, you cross over US52 and Pig N Out will be on your left in the same strip shopping as Big Lots. Pretty big sandwiches, best banana pudding (made with a real custard base) and outstanding strawberry cake made with real strawberries.

Another good choice for a more varied menu would be the C&H Cafeteria in Kernersville (Exit 14 off Business 40). Menu changes frequently. Not your usual cafeteria. Had some great chicken Marsala there. Desserts are generally outstanding as are most of the salads. Sauteed mushrooms are heavenly.... offered once in a while.
