Georgia Tech at Duke Game Thread
I've felt all along this game would be a Litmus Test for the defense, now it has the added importance of being a Litmus Test for Brandon Connette. Connette played very good against Memphis (66.7% completions, 198 yards, 2 TDs), now he needs to do it week in and week out for the foreseeable future.
The pessimism being expressed on The Devil's Den free board is frustrating. The team has advanced a lot and I am optimistic we are going to give the Yellow Jackets all they can handle -- hopefully, at least one point more than they can handle!

Re: Georgia Tech at Duke Game Thread
This is a game I think we can win, and in fact I have it as a predicted win in my season outcome. (Shades of Ozzie's Optimism). I was worried when Boone went down, and Connette cleared any doubt away that I had. Our D is the best we have seen in a while, even though we are playing against a different scheme than we (or most any other team) is used to going against. Memphis gave the option a try a few times, with little success. We will be ready, and for the first time in a long time I think our D is prepared to execute. Having your game plan and being able to execute your game plan are two different things; I foresee us executing and really giving GT fits all day.
It should be fun. I don't have any doubts that Georgia Tech will score, but I think we'll be able to do it more than them. My prediction....

Re: Georgia Tech at Duke Game Thread
I can't believe I am saying this about our beloved team, but after all these years it seems we have some depth in the defensive front, which will be crucial in containing GT. We don't need Connette to play the game of his life, he just needs to be solid and mistake-free, and we need the Jamison Crowder of the second half of the Memphis game to show up, not the one from the first half.
I so want to get my hopes up....

I must be the only one nervous about the mistakes made in the last game; the mix-up that caused an interception, the holding that took 'em back over 30 yards when they had been knocking on the door, etc. They're a smart bunch though, bless their hearts, and I'm keeping the faith.

Oh, no, Ima, you are not the only one nervous about this game. I remember a whole lot of GT games that made me very, very sad.Ima Facultiwyfe wrote:I must be the only one nervous about the mistakes made in the last game; the mix-up that caused an interception, the holding that took 'em back over 30 yards when they had been knocking on the door, etc. They're a smart bunch though, bless their hearts, and I'm keeping the faith.

Cut and Montgomery were concerned about the play of our receivers.Ima Facultiwyfe wrote:I must be the only one nervous about the mistakes made in the last game; the mix-up that caused an interception, the holding that took 'em back over 30 yards when they had been knocking on the door, etc. They're a smart bunch though, bless their hearts, and I'm keeping the faith.
