Re: Latest work(s)
At the end of this month I'm leading a "Paint and Partake". It's an art lesson combined with an excuse to drink. The gallery I show at in Morehead is hosting it, and since I am leading it I needed to come up with something for all of us to paint. There are some restraints that I had to face. First, it had to be something simple..the class is only 2 hours long, which means I needed to create my own painting in 2 hours. Second, they want to teach color mixing, so the pallette is limited to red, blue, yellow, black, and white. Third, the gallery owner that knows I hate painting beachy shit asked me to paint something beachy.
Anyways, here are the results. It will be interesting to see how people butcher my painting. Hell, I gotta paint it again myself; I'll totally screw it up.
Snowy Egret, 16 x 20 inches, acrylic

Always glad to see your latest, CB. Have you ever done pastels? I started one this evening. Totally new for me. Sorta fun. Reeeeeeealy different. Lots of layers of underpainting makes it interesting.

PS How did that workshop go? Do we get to see your students' work? Did they have different approaches or did they all copy yours?

Re: Latest work(s)
In my workshops I don't want anyone copying my style, I just want to give them directions on using techniques they are not familiar with. However, that won't be the case for the Paint And Partake class at the end of this month. That one, we are all recreating the egret painting that I came up with specifically for that class. I'm not quite sure what to expect from that one.Ima Facultiwyfe wrote:Always glad to see your latest, CB. Have you ever done pastels? I started one this evening. Totally new for me. Sorta fun. Re: Latest work(s)
OK. You've inspired me to do my own self portrait. I'm going to paint myself looking really gorgeous and then stash it away in the closet. Years from now when my ancestors come across it, maybe they'll think I really looked like that.
