My Confession and Roy Williams
I don't know where to put this post. Moderators, I'm sure you can find an appropriate thread.
Here is my confession: I left the Duke-UNC football game early. Yes, for the first time I can ever remember, I left a Duke Football game before the final horn sounded. I left the game in the 4th quarter after UNC went ahead of Duke.
I had no choice. Christian was at a band competition, and he was due to arrive back in Greenville at midnight. I knew that I could leave my seat in Wally Wade and pick him up on time at his school if I left at 10:15. When 10:15 arrived, UNC had just gone ahead of Duke. Mom and I grabbed our blankets, our stadium seats, my two cameras, our purses and we left our seats.
No one was on the concourse. The blacktop was deserted. Everyone was in the stadium watching the final few minutes of the football game. Everyone, that is, except us. And Roy Williams.
As we rounded the stadium just behind the general admission seats, we met Roy Williams. He appeared to be scooting to his car as quickly as we were scooting to ours. Did I mention that I had two cameras? I was so flabbergasted to see Roy Williams that I failed to snap his picture. He smiled and waved at us. Mom and I waved back at him.
We got to the car and listened to Duke score its final touchdown on the radio. I missed the final touchdown. I missed the celebration in Wally Wade, but we celebrated in the car. Mom and I woo-hooed all the way back to Greenville, where we arrived at the high school two minutes before the band buses returned to the school.
If anyone is keeping a list of games that Roy Williams left early, you can add this game to that list.

I totally understand why you and your mom had to leave. I feel sure old roy left because he just knew unc had won the game. You know, the typical unc arrogance.

So he left early too, huh? Haunted by Rivers' shot, he thought to himself "I've seen this movie before".
