Who was the first person voted into both the College Basketball and Baseball Halls of Fame? Dick Groat
I loved watching Green Shorts play. Bless his little heart, he was the only player in green shorts as I recall.

Okay, Cascada? I'm way too old for that reference. Much of the trivia covered in the latest posts escape me. I was there to watch wins(and boy did they while I was there) all else was superfluous...

Yes he was. They had team shirts, but not team shorts. His were an unforgetable dayglow green. I don't think I had any idea at the time that Green Shorts was actually Son of Pye.

It was a sad day for the OP when Ken Pye left (for Rice, I think it was). We admired him greatly. He could be relied upon when the guys were just starting up the Graduate School of Business. Most definitely one of the good and smart guys.

My daughter danced to this at about the 4 minute mark of every home game (when she was not injured) for 3 years. I know it well :YmoBeThere wrote:Okay, Cascada? I'm way too old for that reference. OH! Here's another question for the quiz: Which basketball assistant coach is a bad ass? Nate James of course!

Re: Trivia, Anyone?
Ken Pye left Duke for Southern Methodist. Just an aside, not a trivia question. They went in got him to clean things up after the football team got the death penalty.
OK, trivia time.
What Washington DC sportswriter accused the Duke student section of "majoring in smart-ass"?
What incident led to this column being written?
What year?
Who was the Maryland player involved?
Who was the Blue Devils next opponent?
What chant was invented for that next game?
I'm gonna let the rest of you supply the answers!

I got one of the famous "Avuncular Letter" from Uncle Terry. I took mine to work and showed it to Coach K. He kept my avuncular letter. I'm glad they published a copy in The Chanticleer. Otherwise, I wouldn't have one.

CathyCA and BostonDevil were both at that game. You skipped one question though, Cathy. The next opponent was UNC. Many in the crowd dressed as angels for that game.

Re: Trivia, Anyone?
Oh yes. I forgot to include that fact--UNC was the next opponent. Some students held signs lettered with "Welcome, Honored Guests." Others held up signs during free throws with the message, "Please miss."Bostondevil wrote:CathyCA and BostonDevil were both at that game. You skipped one question though, Cathy. We were oh so clever!
