I love the painting, except for the shadow, for a couple of reasons. First, what I expect is the boy's hand creates a different illusion (perhaps he has a tail? Couldn't be anything else on a boy his age!) Second, the shadow looks like a penguin with legs, except for the appendage ... Just my first impressions. Take them for what their worth.
