Not getting on here with much regularity since my machinery seems particularly aggravated by the malware debacle. I seem to have made it just in time today to send vibes to DitBD Mom. Sending good good good, good vibrations that she's greatly improved after this procedure. Put your feet up, relax your shoulders and breathe while you wait, DitBD.

Turned into an 11 hour day. Everything went well despite the length of day. Procedure began about 1:40P and was completed about an hour later. The ENT's report gave me hope that this might be a positive turning point for Mom and her swallowing problems. Post-op lasted many (7-8) hours because of great caution being exercised due to Mom's age and recent heart attack. She headed to ICU for their great attention and care this evening... a decision that I'd hoped for.
It will be about 2 weeks before we can see the full effects of the Botox.

Keeping a vigil with you and sending cyber hugs and vibes. Take care of yourself. This isn't a sprint. You'll have to pace yourself, you know. Try and get some rest this weekend. We'll need you in rare form for football season!

Continued prayers and vibes from Kansas. I know someone that had the botox injections and it worked well for him. I hope your mother responds even better.

DitBD, I'm hoping that your mom got some good rest last night, and that the Botox is working its magic.

The long post-op sounds like a positive here; it's nice to hear that the medical team is being cautious due to your mom's health issues. Sending prayers and vibes for a successful outcome. Re: CTN vibes for Devil in the Blue Dress Mom
A little update: Mom is back in the rehab program after a brief stint in the hospital for surgery to dilate the esophagus. She's weakened and recovering more slowly after this procedure than anything that interrupted her progress previously. It will be at least another week before a swallow test will be done to evaluate the effectiveness of the dilation and Botox injections.
Sometime next week Mom will probably move from rehab to sub acute care.
This is the toughest stretch yet. All prayers and well wishes are greatly appreciated.
