Don't ever throw anything out. Seriously. Especially only "starts". Live and learn. And then rescue them.

This is a cool bit of news. The gallery that I recently signed up with (which makes two in one month, yay, and they are giving me my own wall space with my name on it, double yay) is hosting a charity auction for the local hospice house. It's called "Runway for Hospice" and they are having a red carpet and everything.
http://www.blu-sail.com/news--events.html
One of the owners asked me if I was interested in turning in a painting for it, and I said sure...I've never done an auction before but it's for a good cause. 20% of the proceeds go to the hospice, then they get their 50% and I get mine. So I painted that last painting pretty much for this event, knowing they would have the other similar one hanging on the wall. Two hours after I dropped it off, she used it as the poster piece for her promotional email, which I thought was a nice honor. I didn't know it at the time, but the auction is both a live auction and a silent auction. The top 12 pieces were juried in by an independent party, and I found out today that mine was one of those 12. So my painting will have people with their little flags raised actually bidding in public on it! There is a minimum bid of $400, so that's all it might get. Or it might get squat.
Julie and I are going to Ocracoke tomorrow, and we won't be back in time for the beginning, but we'll stop in and see how things went, and maybe hob-nob for a few. Hopefully they sell every painting and sculpture turned in, and hopefully they make lots of money for the hospice.
(By the way..I really, really love this gallery, they are good people)

This is really good news.

Take lots of photos at Ocracoke: the lighthouse, Silver Lake, a sunset. . . and then you'll have lots of material to paint for those filthy rich tourists who want a painting as a souvenir of their very expensive vacations at the coast.

Congratulations!
