Anyone Buy A Lottery Ticket?

Post by colchar » March 30th, 2012, 12:03 pm

Good luck to anyone here who has bought a lottery ticket!

And since Canadians can play does anyone wanna grab a quick pick for me :D

With the size of that prize can you imagine if one person wins it? Too bad that isn't a prize up here because lottery winning aren't taxable in Canada - we get every last penny!

Our office bought 55 last time. Eleven of us kicked in $5 each. We won $4. So we rolled our $4 plus $55 more into tickets for tonight.

The one secretary who didn't participate will be awfully lonely if we win.

Yes. More than one. And always get the "Megaplier" or "Power Play" when you buy tickets. It costs an extra dollar but it more than pays for itself in multiplying the small winners.

I dipped a dollar bill in lighter fluid and set a lit match against it.

That doesn't count, does it? :-?

Mr. Windsor bought a couple. If I win, we're all going to the Final Four next time Duke is there...on me :D

Two separate pools at work, $5 each. If the pools get too big, then when you win and split it up it just isn't enough?

"Really, Ymo, not enough?"

Yes, while I would be thrilled at the prospect of $1 million, given my age, I would need to continue to work after winning that amount. So I figure, if I get to dream, at least I can dream of a situation where I could retire the next day.

My guess is that the math doesn't work out in your favor in this situation...why else would they sell it?

For one of the two pools I'm in, purchases of tickets start when the cash value of the jackpot exceeds $100 million. So far, we've put in $166 towards this jackpot and we've won $168.

it always seems that someone far away always wins these things Sooooo....our theory and we're sticking to it, was to buy tix far from home. Today at every potty stop all the 6 hours from Houston to Slidell we bought another tix. Mr ID says - it only takes one to win you know! As you can see so far we've never had that ONE! :( Maybe tonight!

I did not buy a ticket.

I occasionally play scratch off cards between $5 - $25. I think I'm close to breaking even.

I'm not far from even with the Powerball. I frequently* get the PB number, sometimes with 1 or 2 white balls. They recently changed the way the game works, not drawing a multiplier but having it "fixed" for different winning levels. I liked it better, and did better, before this change. Last year I matched the PB number with 3 white balls, and with the multiplier (X4) won $400. (IIRC, DukePA found an old $500 winner in a stack she hadn't checked :D ).

I rarely win in the MegaMillions. But I've got several chances tonight.

*Perhaps frequently is an overstatement, but a couple of times a month or more, and with the multiplier, it turns a $3 winner into $12, which helps! When I was in Ft. Lauderdale 3 times in the last 5 weeks, I "found" a Mobil station that I bought tickets at. In six drawings, I've won $12 or $14 four times out of the six drawings. That is extraordinary! :happy-bouncyblue: I will get more tickets there when I go back in a couple of weeks :D

Yep. I won $500 on a Pick 3 last summer. I have four, or so tickets to check from the last few months. We bought quite a few at work today and I bought a few by myself. IF I win a gazillion dollars, well, I'm very generous and CrazieTalk world will be ROCKIN!!! GO DUKE!

I only won $6 - I had the Megaball (23) on a ticket. A $2 winner X 3 multiplier.

Didn't win last night, but last week I won $600 on megamillions and $400 on a scratch ticket.
The winning ticket last night was bought in Maryland - I really hope it was a Duke fan passing through... :duke:
