We're doing ok, but .....

.... DukeRah's good old labrador, Murphy, has come home to recuperate from the partial paw amputation he had yesterday. At VSH they determined that he had a stage 2 malignant tumor on his paw. With it's removal, along with a little more of the paw, they give him about a 70% chance of recovery. He's gonna have to learn to hobble, but once he's healed he'll still be able to splash in and bring back stick after stick after stick to her from the lake this summer and enjoy boat rides and fishing with Grandy.

About now you're asking yourself whatever happened with OUR retriever, Lucky. Well, after both ACL repairs he's back on all fours but still feeling sort of gimpy.

Can somebody remind me why it was that we decided not to buy animal medical insurance? Sheesh.

Once again, though, the loving care these guys have gotten at VSH in Cary has put human hospital care to shame. It's a marvelous place.

I am so sorry to hear about Murphy, and I'm hoping that they got all the cancer.

And that's good news about Lucky! I'm certain that he likes to swim, too! That's excellent exercise, and he will have fun swimming with Murphy this summer!

Don't give the pet insurance a second thought. The typical product in the market does not seem to be as helpful as coverage in the policies for people. Most important is the excellent care.... professional and familial.... which these family members so richly deserve.

Miss Molly's making another dietary adjustment per the veterinarian's instructions and sends a few yips of encouragement. She'd come and visit if I would let her drive!

No, he's yellow. Here he is a couple of years ago. When Rah was so sick and hooked up to so many lines at Duke, we arranged for them to meet outside the hospital for just a few minutes. They're a pretty tight pair!

He looks like my hunk o labby love Jester.

I asked about color because in certain breeds (labs and standard poodles top the list) the BLACK dogs are prone to a particular foot/toe cancer.

Schatzi is a miniature Schnauzer, like our Sasha.

(It's cool, that's what. Here's another for ya.) We also once had a German Shepherd named Schultz. Does that about cover all the German, spit-spattering "SCH's"?

Schatzi is a little Black Schnauzer with a beard that has gotten white as she ages! 16 lbs of litle devil! For 11 years old she is VERY active!
