Anybody know when Duke sends out the acceptance letters?

It must be different in NC, as we in Kentucky have received zilcho from Duke (LL is in 10th grade), even though one of her friends (whose family can't stand Duke) received something.
Duke and WashU have sent her nothing, but have sent alumnus dad (moi) material.

I would not put too much weight on whether or not you receive a bunch of mailings from a school. I don't recall either of my kids getting info from Duke and both were accepted. If any of you end up attending Blue Devil Days this year, I will be speaking on the Parent Panel, so come say hello.

Your admission process down there is vastly different to ours. Except for limited enrollment programs there are no interviews. We don't have an equivalent of the SATs. Being a legacy doesn't mean jack shit. Then again, virtually all of our schools are state funded and any private ones are little small places that virtually nobody goes to anyway.

Well, after 4 waitlists (WashU, Vanderbilt, Rice, Pomona), Andrew is in at Davidson. Whew. Duke decisions tomorrow! Yield, schmield, there are no safety schools anymore it seems. OK, he would have gotten into UMass if he had applied.

For any crazietalk parents facing this process in the future - visiting the campus is key. Hope your kid isn't like mine and only interested in schools that involved plane rides.

Oooooooh. I LOVE Davidson!!!! If that's the WORST he can do he's in high cotton. I'm betting the farm that if he got into Davidson, he got in at Duke! We're all waiting to hear!

Accepted at Emory!! I'm liking the trend. Duke tomorrow - fingers crossed, and toes, and eyeballs. And c'mon, triple legacy unless uncles, aunts, and cousins count too - then it's too many to count (OK 7) - plus he's really strong, top scores, top grades, 5's on all his AP's, National Merit Finalist. I mean, c'mon!! Go Duke!!

Sorry, Ima, did I say 3pm? It's 6pm. Knowing The Drewsk though, he'll be reading the DBR and or ESPN.com and will take his own sweet time checking. In many ways, I'm not always sure that he's my kid. ;)

Just in case you missed the other thread. It's good news! Only 11% of applicant were accepted.

Momentary lapse of sanity and/or 30 seconds of bragging rights - no question Andrew was in the top 11% of applicants, probably top 2 or 3 %. Glad Duke recognized that.

All right, done with the ego trip.
