AAARRGGHHHH!!! (and vibes)
Kelly and I will miss the UNC - Duke game this weekend! Even though it's for a really good cause, we're both really bummed. To make matters worse, I'll be surrounded by Carolina Fans throughout the entire evening. We will be attending a charity dinner and silent auction for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation with her family, extended family and huge entourage of Carolina Fans. There are eight people at our table, and they're all Carolina fans except me. Luckily, they're also her family and close friends and we each have a mutual respect for each other. I'm not really worried about being the minority fan, I'm just worried that someone will check the score and leak it.
Aside from the wine and beer tasting, and six course meal there is one consolation prize. I bought Kelly a brand new dress for the event and I'll be damned if it isn't the loveliest, deepest shade of Duke Blue!

I hope you all raise gobs of money! Kelly will look stunning in Duke Blue.
And when one of those TH fans goes to check the score, I sincerely hope that they're all disappointed!

Cystic Fibrosis is a good cause. We had a friend we had known since he was around 10 years old. Phil was almost 40 when he died. But....I would have to "cop out" and send a nice donation. I know, that is bad, what can I say except....Miles wrote:Kelly and I will miss the UNC - Duke game this weekend! Even though it's for a really good cause, we're both really bummed. The only one at the table surrounded by holes, huh? Sounds like grade school.

Exactly! We are taping the game and then going to head straight home and watch, hopefully without knowing the outcome. Kelly and I will have phones turned off, but we're going to be facing a large crowd that might not be as cool as we are.shereec wrote:oh wait - you're recording the game and will watch it later? is that why you're worried about someone leaking the score? If you don't already know that we won before you watch the game, will you fast forward through the commercials and half time?Miles wrote:Exactly! Re: AAARRGGHHHH!!! (and vibes)
We had a lovely evening at Master Chefs, despite not being able to avoid score updates. One of the speakers revealed the score doing a speech and one of the guests at our table simply could not put away their iPhone during dinner. For the life of me I could not fathom how people could take out a phone at the dinner table for a black-tie dinner. Keep your phone on for emergencies, or take it to restroom in the club but don't pull out your phone at the table.
We raised $200,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and even though didn't win, I thought it was pretty sweet to sit a table, surrounded by beautiful women dressed in Duke Blue.

Wished the game had ended as happily as the dinner.
Good to know your Kelly's injuries are that improved.

Kelly has made a remarkable recovery and I'm quite proud of her! Her accident was unwelcome, but a well-respected reminder of how fragile life is. We've tried to kick ass every day since then. Sometimes we make it, sometimes we don't, but we are having a lot of fun trying.
