Re: The Official "Good Morning" Thread
Well....it is morning, after all.
Hope y'all have a good day.
I could use a few good vibes for myself, concerning good results I need today, for a DOT physical exam.
The company doctor set me up last year, to use a CPAP machine when sleeping, to "keep me alive" and other dangers related to snoring. The mask for this torture device has been hanging on the bedpost for...long enough to get dusty.
I'm still alive, y'all.
I've been a snorer since my early teens. How in the world have I survived over 40 years with this dastardly condition?
I can't get comfortable enough to fall asleep with that damned thing tightly strapped around my head. It doesn't do it's intended job if not tight. Some people have an appreciation for the ones they use, but not this feller. It doesn't work for me and I need to keep my smart-assed mouth in check when I'm gonna have to convince this doctor that I don't want, or need, this f#@*in' thing. I sleep between 7-8 uninterrupted hours every night without it. With it, I can' even get to sleep. How can I make her understand this fact?
Is she trying to fix what isn't broken...or is she getting a kickback from the machine makers?
I was never told to appear at a sleep clinic. I was set up with a DIY supply company from Asheville. I was also told, that after insurance benefits, my portion of the costs should be around $300/year. Ten months later, my insurance has yet to contribute a dime, without any explanation, and I have bills from the supply house that total $850 with a notice that my insurance benefits have been filed for. I've not heard from the insurer and I do not have time to sit 'On Hold' with them for over half of the day. Without certainty to the charges, I'm not spittin' out my cash!
Should I be denied an approval, the DOT will not allow me to be a valid, licensed driver. Thus, I'm out of work.
BTW, I have NEVER fallen asleep at the wheel! It would be a lie for anyone with over 5 years of driving experience, to deny that they have never been drowsy behind the wheel. I learned the cure for that condition a very long time ago - STOP! Get out and move around. Change your environment for just a few minutes and you'll be okay. In more than 14 years of overnight driving, I've had to do this only a few times. Thank God I learned the remedy early on.
Daily rant complete...for now.
Oh yeah...it's raining.
Hope y'all have a good day.

Good morning.
Cap'n, Mrs. Ozzie has used a CPAP for years with great success! I sleep very well when she is using it If it becomes dislodged and she starts to, um, well, she asked me long ago to wake her up and have her put it back on, because she sleeps much better with it too. Win - win. Hope you pass your physical today with flying colors! }}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} Have you ever looked at the maskless models that are advertized? http://www.directhomemedical.com/masks- ... 7AodYE3F-w and there are others http://sleep.lovetoknow.com/Maskless_CPAP http://sleep.lovetoknow.com/Nomask ah, those two are the same with different web sites.

Re: The Official "Good Morning" Thread
My mom uses a CPAP and it is wonderful. She went to the sleep clinic here at ECU/PCMH/Brody/UHS/Vidant/Whatever-they-'re-calling-it-these-days and they were extremely helpful.
I have slept in the same bed with my mom while she was using her CPAP. I thought it would be noisy and keep me awake. The only time I hear any noise is when she slips it off to get up in the morning.
Mom loves her CPAP. She sleeps through the night now. No one else in the house is awakened by her snoring. We know it's better for her heart. She doesn't need to take naps in the afternoon any more. She has hauled that CPAP all over the world: Australia, China, Peru, India, even California!
You may not like the sleep clinic, but a professional fitting by someone who does this all the time might help. Good luck with your physical. I'm sending vibes.
