Here's hoping the prosecution/DA didn't screw this case up and he gets the conviction thrown out some time down the road.DevilWearsPrada2.0 wrote:Lovette was found GUILTY of murder and kidnapping, Eve Carson (Unc student body president 2008).

Chapel Hill/Orange County prosecuted this case, I doubt it'll get thrown out.OZZIE4DUKE wrote:Here's hoping the prosecution/DA didn't screw this case up and he gets the conviction thrown out some time down the road.DevilWearsPrada2.0 wrote:Lovette was found GUILTY of murder and kidnapping, Eve Carson (Unc student body president 2008).

Re: Lovette found GUILTY
Atwater and Lovette stalked out a victim in Chapel Hill. Kidnapped, robbed Eve of her ATM card, used her Vehicle to ride around and get money out of the ATM, and then shot Eve 5 times. Leaving her in the street with fatal wounds. ALL for $1400. Her card had a limit of $700 per day. They used the card 2 times.
Atwater.... life in prison x 2
Lovette...... life in prison
This isnt inlcuding the murder of the Duke PHD student.
At least Eve's parents and family can return to their homes, and put this trial behind them, and make the most of the holiday season, and know that Atwater and Lovette are exactly where they belong.
Its sad for the families of Lovette and Atwater, to know their sons committed such violent crimes and murder. How are young people so damn mean and violent at such young ages?. Lovette was only 17 yrs old.
I personally think a TOWN HANGING would have been the right punishment. Guess that went out along time ago.
Defense attorneys.... I can't imagine having to defend someone like Lovette. He wasnt getting Death sentence, due to his age. Isnt the death sentence on hold in NC? The defense didnt have much of a case anyway. Good job for the Orange County DA's office!!! Justice for Eve!

The retirement of Captain Kangaroo. Theory below...DevilWearsPrada2.0 wrote: How are young people so damn mean and violent at such young ages?. Lovette was only 17 yrs old.
Sure it's sad. Also, it's evident of a culture of gang glorification and a maybe ( I don't know them), a lack of attentiveness from those parents.DevilWearsPrada2.0 wrote:

When Keshan was on TV, small children, at their most impressionable ages, were taught many of the values differentiating right and wrong, when many parents didn't have the time to impart full instruction. This lack of such instruction has resulted in kids turning in the wrong direction for leadership. We need another Captain Kangaroo.

Right Capt'n. And what about sweet old Uncle Paul, Howdy Doody, and Mr. Rogers? They all taught kindness. Bullying was practically non existent, or at least short lived. Now the TV stuff kids relate to is so violent and scary ugly that it's rated for "mature" audiences. I can't see how any truly "mature" audience could stomach much of it, actually. This old world isn't turning out the way I had hoped.

I met Buffalo Bob Smith several times. I went to HS in Florida with his son Chris. One time at his house I actually held Howdy Doody. That was pretty cool! We called Chris "Howdy". He HATED that!Ima Facultiwyfe wrote:Right Capt'n. And what about sweet old Uncle Paul, Howdy Doody, and Mr. Rogers? They all taught kindness. Re: Lovette found GUILTY
Paul Montgomery was a childhood friend of my father and a cousin to one of my Dad's close adult friends. He visited our home a few times with his cousin, back when I was a kid. I was very surprised to be told he was almost completely sightless. He got around pretty well. He was a genuine kid-loving TV personality. He was very attentive to me on those visits, an extremely nice man.
If we held our mouths just right, there were a few certain planets in proper alignment and the antenna turned exactly right, we could snowily pick up WRAL, to see Uncle Paul.
If you ask a few of today's kids, "What are the magic words", there's no telling what you might hear.

In the Triad area, it was The Ole Rebel Show, that aired on WFMY tv out of Greensboro.

I wish, when people like this are fiound GUILTY, that they would be swept away into the phantom zone, much like General Zod and his team were in Superman 1!
