Just be nice in your response! Not everyone knows how to spell every word correctly! And why use spell check, anyway. I am sure the MOTHER of the child, would be highly upset knowing someone they liked and trusted, was mocking them and being snarky. May even bring her to tears.

I don't know if I'm ready for snow, but I do think 80 dgr is outrageous. The rain forecast for today is, however, extremely welcome.

Apparently, some trees are blooming b/c the drought induced dormancy over the summer was treated as "winter" and the milder dampness (it's not really wet here in central tx) is being treated as "spring". Sad really. The trees have taken a real beating this year and it seems like they just can't win.

I'm so glad you had rain!!! When I was in Texas, I saw what some of the fire damage plus, so many dead trees and dry grass. Very sad. The next time I go to Texas, I'll let you know when I'm going to be in Austin. Maybe you can have lunch or dinner with me.

Well, I think I finally got the hang of Spotify. I'm hooked. Wynton Marsalis is playing Sleepytime Down South for me. And he'll play it again if I want him to! Bless his heart!

Spotify rocks. You can stream music from a huge library to your PC (free) or phone (not free). It's like Pandora, but you get to explicitly make your own playlists by picking the exact songs and also share those playlists and even collaborate on them with friends.

For example, I've started creating a jazz playlist for a friend of mine.

Yep, and on facebook you can see what your friends are playing (if they let you). Usul plays some stuff that betrays our generation gap! I check him out once in a while. I don't even go where Native goes. Except the other night I noticed he was playing "classical music to study by".

I have yet to search something Spotify couldn't come up with and then some.

Here's a little factoid for automotive buffs or just to dazzle your friends.

Four brothers, Lowell, Norman, Hiram and Max Goldberg, invented and developed the first automobile air-conditioner. On July 17, 1946, the temperature in Detroit was 97 degrees. The four brothers walked into Henry Ford's office and sweet-talked his secretary in telling him that they were there with the most exciting innovation in the auto industry since the electric starter.

Ford was curious and invited them inside. They refused and instead asked that he come out to the parking lot to their car. They persuaded him to get into the car, which was about 130 degrees, turned on the air conditioner, and cooled the car off immediately. Ford got very excited and invited them back to the office where he offered them $3 million for the patent. The brothers refused, saying they would settle for $2 million, but they wanted the recognition by having a label, "The Goldberg Air-Conditioner" on the dashboard of each car in which it was installed.

Ford was more than a little anti-Semitic and there was no way he was going to put the Goldberg's name on two million Fords. They haggled for a long time and finally agreed on $4 million and that just their first names would be shown.

So, to this day, all Ford air conditioners show Lo, Norm, Hi and Max on the controls.

Came home from work early today. I have a bit of a headache, and NuBarbie's voice is a bit like fingernails on a chalkboard. It's hard to concentrate when she's always either in or just outside my office, talking in her normal (loud and irritating) voice. Everyone else in the lab is frantically working on getting data together for my boss to present next week. The advantage of not being on this particular project (and in the dog house with the boss) is that I'm not getting inundated with tasks that need to be completed by yesterday.

On the bright side, it's Friday!
