Turkeys @ Duke Brunchgate - Social Discusson Thread

Post by CameronBornAndBred » October 24th, 2011, 9:20 am

Should be an interesting day, football early, basketball late. Don't know how long the grills will remain after the football game since we still have some logistics to figure out.

From the LTE...

Pattie will be pulling for the Hokies since their son is a member of the Corps of Cadets at VaTech. Her husband Dan will be pulling for Duke since he's a graduate of the USMA and one of Coach K's biggest fans.

Can someone help me?

I only asked in LTE because this thread wasn't up yet.

I'll take those 2 tickets.

(Miss Fran wants 2 of my tickets for her grandson and his friend, so I gave them to her without thinking that I would need my 2 tickets for my friends. I found myself in a bind. Thanks, Ozzie!)

Oh, and one more thing: I'm celebrating my 50th birthday with you all on Saturday--a few days early! In line with my theme of 50 Days to 50 Years, on Saturday, I'll be celebrating "50 Hours to 50 Years."

Cupcakes for everybody!

While the logistics need to be worked out, the plan is for a "double" tailgate. Breakfast in the morning with a 12:30 kickoff, and then a late lunch/early supper after the game with the basketball game starting at 7 p.m. Val's Brisket, plus 2 pounds of Chutzpah pastrami and a pound of corned beef will be available for sandwiches. This will all need to be re-heated on a hopefully available grill. =p~ =p~ =p~

I'm stoked! My guest this week (besides my dad who finally showed up!) will be a die hard Duke fan that I've never met but have been FB friends with ever since I signed on Facebook. Her mom and her sister are coming with her down from DC, but they won't get up early enough to get her to Devil's Alley to get autographs, so I'm gonna pick her up and she can run loose on K-ville as the players walk past. She's always been a political condundrum for me, but maybe I'll get my answers on the way to tailgate. Either way...I'm stoked! I know we will make her and her family feel at home. :happy-bouncyblue: :duke:

mojo, and party of two conspirators not attending due to seasonal, ritual shutdown of the fishing lodge. Windows are covered. All freezable goods have been evacuated. Any critter openings have been closed. Now it's gonna be the water heater draining and the ceremonial blowing clear of all the water lines.
If the pipes are empty, there's no water in them to freeze. Therefore, no heating of the interior of the house is required...and no expense incurred for heating. ;) :ymsmug:

Anybody wanna go fishing next year?

shereec not gonna make it. My full-fledged crud from last week turned out to be pneumonia and I'm just not gonna deal with possible rain and cold on Saturday. However, when I met Quinn Cook's mom, Jan, at Countdown to Crazieness, I invited her to stop by our tailgate on parents weekend. If she stops by, please give her my apologies for not being there.
Y'all all have fun and yell a little extra loud for me.

Weather is calling for cold all day, chance of rain up until game time (but then clearing) so dress warm and bring a raing jacket.

I am going to go to the bball game with my dad, so if anyone that is still around at tailgate can help us load my trailer up with our tents, grills and tables I'd really appreciate it. I need to leave the lots by 5 so I can drop it off at Bud and Nancy's and then get to my Dad's house so we can head back to campus.

The brisket is cooked, chilled and sliced, and, believe me, it is delicious!! The pan is very full. Just waiting to be (slowly) re-heated on a grill (during the fourth quarter). :happy-bouncyblue:
