Duke vs. Wake

Post by CameronBornAndBred » October 17th, 2011, 10:27 am

At the beginning of the year I was relishing this game, now I don't have that same optimism. Not because we aren't good, but because Wake was coming off a crappy year and looking beatable. The team that they have sent on the field so far this year is not the team that I expected to see. :-ss

Wake beat Florida State!

:-\

Need our team to posture themselves and heal their injuries and face Wake Forest head on!!!

OFF LINE..... please protect Renfree, on his Blind side, front side, back side, right and left, so he can throw the ball long and deep!!! Because Connor, Donovan and Brandon can catch the ball, when it is thrown in their direction! And Score!

WE ARE DUKE !

Wake played an exceptional game against a Florida State team that was not playing with a full deck. I listened to the VA Tech - Wake game as I drove home Saturday. Wake dominated in the first quarter and led 10 to 0. In the second half Beamer Ball took over with TD after TD the rest of the game. Wake got an old fashioned whipping. The question is which Wake team will show up Saturday. We could ask the same about the Duke team.

We need to play a full 60 minutes on Saturday. This is a must win game so the team must be totally focused from the opening kick-off to the final whistle. If we win and improve to 4-3, the FSU drubbing will disappear out the rear view mirror; if we lose, the wheels may fall off the car, season over, better luck next year! I cannot over emphasize how much we need to break the 11 game losing streak to Wake Forest.

We snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. I was as negative in chat, during the 1st half, as I can ever remember being. I give the team credit for coming back from the 17-0 deficit, but in the end, we settled for the field goal one time too many today. You have to score Red Zone touchdowns to win games.

Apparently, Cut took a lot of the heat/blame in post-game pressers and shouldered a lot of the blame/criticism.

Sigh. Amazing comeback, the second half was loads of fun to watch. All except for that last 5 minutes. The first half totally sucked, I was surmising that Renfree may set a record for most complete passes with least amount of yardage.

“I got outcoached badly and really did a very poor job,” Cutcliffe said. “All the areas of a head coach’s responsibility we were more than poor. More than poor. When you put yourself in that position, it’s very difficult to overcome. They couldn’t overcome me and Wake Forest.”

"Cutcliffe praised his team's second half efforts, though said afterward he had done a "more than poor job" of coaching in the first half. He said Duke lacked discipline and made "wishy-washy" decisions."

Ozzie sighting on TV

Post by Bob Green » October 23rd, 2011, 11:58 am

There was an Ozzie sighting on the TV broadcast yesterday. At the beginning of the game, they showed a clip of the Devil's Walk and there was Ozzie applauding the team as they walked by.

I can't even write what I feel about this game.

Suffice it to say, one of my teams won this game, and I wasn't happy about that.
