House Buying Vibes

Post by Miles » September 10th, 2011, 6:06 pm

Kelly and I just accepted a counter offer on the house we want!

We're looking to close early November.

This is my first home purchase so I'm open to all advice, and would to hear about your experiences. Send your Vibes for a smooth, surprise-free inspection.

Vibes!

FWIW, the inspection won't turn up everything. Just go into the deal knowing that. Make sure that the major things are working.

We are under contract! It took less than 96 hours since we saw the house.
This weekend we were doing a drive-by and saw they were having an open house. Not a minute later we got a text from Kelly's parents, they were in the neighborhood and doing a drive-by too, so we all met up and walked through the house with the listing agent. She was pretty cool, no pressure and kept it professional.

We sent a counter-offer to their counter Saturday night. We signed the contract yesterday at lunch.

I meet the inspector tomorrow to review his report.

Closing October 28th!

WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, this is fun!

Inspection went really well, thanks for asking. There was one big concern, some step-crackng through the brick veneer on the left side of the house. It looks like one part of the wall, and possibly the foundation and settled in one corner. Our agent is trying to get a structural engineer out there next week for his inspection. Aside from that, there are some fairly common electrical issues and a few windows that need glazing.

Overall, we got a great report. Vibes for step-crack assessment!

Kelly and I are scheduled to close next Friday, the 28th!

We are both really excited and very anxious to get out of the current home. It's been a great home for two plus years, but we're ready to move on and start our lives in something we've picked together and can really make our own.

It's also really great timing because we can meet a good portion of the neighborhood since everybody will be trick or treating that weekend, and Kelly will have a new home in which she can recover after her surgery in November.

WOOO HOOOOOO!
