True Blue 'Cue Crew Tailgate- Social discussion thread.
The first game is almost upon us! Labor Day weekend, here we come! Game time vs. Richmond is 7 p.m. and I know that TNTDevil and CameronBornAndBred will be knocking on the gates of the Card Gym lot shortly after dawn that morning, setting up their grills, extra tents, art work, generator, satellite dish, TV and all the great things that make the day so special for us! And Cowboy Ronnie won't be all that far behind them.
So put your attendance and menu bringin's here!
I plan on getting there between 10 and 11 a.m. and making a full day of it. I'll bring those delicious Costco 1/4 all beef hot dogs and buns. I'll also pick up one of those "three packs" of Heinz Ketchup/Mustard/Pickle Relish that they sell at either Sam's or Costco - that will last us a while, I think.
I'll also bring some beer, not Bud Light. I've been drinking mostly Newcastle Brown Ale and Magic Hat #9 this summer, and occasionally Yingling (I know that's not spelled right, but who cares! There's no one here gonna take away my zpork points ). So maybe some combination of those beers.
That's 14 , one for each projected football victory this season!

Can we just give $$ to the cooks for supplies and food?

As was said several times last year, if you're too busy or, your heart just ain't in it, simply put the number of folks in your party. Once at the tailgate, you're welcome to donate whatever you feel is right. I'm guessing you feel comfortable by now that we aren't gonna' run short of food.
It works out better for all concerned: less stress, less mess and less waste.

Also, to add to that...one of the things that makes our tailgates unique and fun is we usually have a good theme to our food. We will usually have the standard fare, hotdogs and whatnot for the kids and kids at heart, but we also love to cook those onsite. And then we go all out on something big and fun. Don't spend your money by bringing a box of fried chicken from KFC or Bojangles. We take pride in the fact that what we eat is homemade, and often cooked onsite. Obviously there are exceptions, like awesome bagels..but on the whole, you get the idea.TNTDevil wrote:Yes. Definitely.CathyCA wrote:Can we just give $$ to the cooks for supplies and food?

We do have four (4) General Admission tickets available for sale to this game at face value -
$25 each. Purchasing these tickets from us gives you admission to the football game and the tailgate and includes your monetary contribution to the food fund. If you need to buy a ticket anyway, this is a great deal! If you are interested in getting any or all of these tickets, please PM me through the board or contact me otherwise if you have other means to (Facebook, phone, etc.).

I'll be holding down the fort in Section 21/ESPN3 for the Richmond game, but I am counting the days (17) until Sept 10.

My plans for Labor Day weekend have changed, so there's an outside chance that I might come for the game.

So, for the True Blue 'Cue Crew, I will make the dessert and be the gopher at the Barbecue Cook Off in October. I plan to make a Grilled Pina Colada which will consist of grilled fresh pineapple rings topped with vanilla yogurt, toasted coconut and drizzled with honey. Tailgaters will be my guinea pigs ! GO DUKE!!!
