Post by Jesus_hurley » August 4th, 2011, 12:35 pm

Supposed bracket pairings tweeted today:

Jeff Goodman
@GoodmanCBS Jeff Goodman
The Maui Invitational matchups - per @garyparrishcbs: Memphis-Michigan, Duke-Tennessee, Kansas-Georgetown, UCLA-Chaminade.

Not mention of who would pair off after that.

That sounds good. Tennessee will be interesting this year with a new coach at the helm.

"The Duke-Tennessee winner will play the Memphis-Michigan winner in one semifinal while the Kansas-Georgetown winner plays the UCLA-Chaminade winner in the other semifinal. Five of the eight Maui participants are ranked in the latest version of the CBSSports.com Top 25 (and one). The group is led by No. 6 Duke and followed by No. 8 Memphis, No. 11 Kansas, No. 20 Michigan and No. 25 UCLA."

So before going to Hawaii, Duke faces Belmont in Cameron as part of the new format to the Maui Invitational. Belmont went 30-5 (19-1 A-Sun) last year and it looks like they only lost one rotation player from last season. They were 19th in the kenpom ratings. Should be a competitive game to start the season.

We are planning a trip to Hawaii and hope to get tickets to the games. We are on the waiting list. We can't buy them now because we are not going with the Iron Dukes. We want to stay about 2 weeks to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary which was last year, couldn't go because of health issues. I'll be very disappointed if we don't get ticks.

I'll be bummed if you don't get tickets but I will be very happy if you don't get ticks.

Ryan Kelleeeeeeeeeeey! :x Bless his heart. I've been crazy about that kid since watching him in highschool. Would love to see him named the MVP in Maui!
