The AD of UNC just gave his upcoming resignation on Live tv. HE will go to Indy for the NCAA sanctions.

Wow. Throwing himself under the bus?

He should have asked Ol' Roy's help. If we had a "throwing people under the bus" Olympic team, Ol' Roy would be the captain.

Baddour is not renewing his contract. His contract runs through June 2012. And wants a new AD at UNC. AD Baddour, all choked up. TV media said tears in the room, from faculty members.

I suspect that Baddour was simply given an option that wasn't offered to Davis.

An interesting quote from ESPN's article about this....

"It was pretty evident to me as the decision unfolded that that's in the best interest of the football program," Baddour said at Thursday's news conference. "That's a realization that if you're in this business, your head football coach needs to know who the athletic director is going to be. With me knowing this is going to be my final year, you want the field to be as best as possible and the way to do that is to do what I'm doing.

So does this mean somebody is going to have the dreaded "interim" head coach tag? I can't imagine they'll find an AD that fast unless they picked someone in-house, which seems like a really bad idea, considering how infested the house is.

And who says, in a prepared statement, "as best as possible"?

Yup, they will have an interim and hire the new guy after the season is over.

I would like to apply for the job of AD at UNC. I could straighten up their mess and show them how to run a clean program.

One of the theories on this is that Marvin did, in fact, spill the beans, and that Marvin's bean-spilling is what caused the firing two days after Butchie told the assembled masses at ACC media day how warm and fuzzy the support from unc made him feel.
