What are your plans for celebrating the July 4th holiday? **==

As usual (see my avatar--that pic was made 3 years ago), I will be at Holden Beach with my mom, my brothers, their wives and children, my cousin Janice from Wisconsin/Kansas, and my Aunt Betty.

My brothers will import assorted friends during the week.

We will consume copious amounts of food and alcohol. I will sit in the sand under my umbrella and catch up on my People magazines. I will walk many miles on the beach and swim in the ocean and in the pool. I'm hoping that my brother brings his boat, or perhaps a kayak.

Pictures will be posted on FB.

If you're in the Holden Beach area, let me know. We'd love for you to stop by and visit with us.

Long weekend in Little Egg Harbor NJ. This time I'll try not to slice my foot open on anything in the bay.

As said in the LTE, I hope to blow shit up.

Beyond that, I'm going to mom's, but since the 4th is Monday, I can't stay for the fireworks, so I'll have to blow shit up somewhere else. Either in Greenville or Durham. I am not blowing shit up at the beach, I refuse to be anywhere's near here for the 4th.

Saturday there's a wedding in the family..... 85+ yo groom and bride in her 70's.

On the Fourth, my extended family's gathering at my sister's cabin in Ashe County, overlooking the New River. The youngest is 2 and a half and the oldest looks forward to her 91st. birthday in August.

My nephew, the chef extraordinaire, will be grilling a variety of entrees. Each household is bringing something to contribute to the feast.... Saint Louis potato salad, seasonal fresh fruit salad, homemade baked beans, French apple pie and lemon chess pie, homemade ice cream and crudities and dip...... you get the picture! An All America menu! ;)

Stevo and I will be home since we live on vacation. I hope to get my kayak, Madeline, out on the sound a few times :) Adam might make an appearance and help us with the empty nest syndrome we've experienced since he moved out at the end of the spring semester. :happy-bouncyblue:

We'll be here on the 4th, with Ruthie and family here, before heading to South Florida the next day in their van for the week to see my folks. No blowing shit up here, but we may go see the town's fireworks on Monday night. :violence-torch:

Do not even contemplate blowing shit up anywhere near my house. **==

How can you stand to be in that cold water anyway?

If it's north of Hatteras, it's too cold for me to be at the beach. **==

Have fun with Katie!

We are planning on going to the lake for a few days. We will attend a large gathering that is catered by the "Boat Club". Most people in our area go. We will miss Sneak and Gail and their families. It's nice to see people that you don't see much. One of the neighbors usually has a fireworks show that is done over the water. Don't know where he gets the professional fireworks but he always has them.

Sounds like all of you have fun plans. I hope everyone has a blast and stays safe. :happy-bouncyblue:

I grew up spending my summers on Cape Cod. We always knew when it was August, because the water hit about 65 then.

The Turk clan has been going to Holden pretty much annually for 25+ years. Papa Turk started it and the now the usual headcount is somewhere between 20-30 people, from toddlers to octogenarians. Going down in August this year.

As for the fourth, going the other way to the Poconos. My in-laws have a lake house, and I'll probably enjoy some "barley pop", read a couple books, and try not to catch a fish or two.
