I keep several packages in the pantry. Just in case, I want something quick. Generally, during Cold weather.

Re: Ramon Noodles - Do You Eat Them?
Being Asian, ramen was part of life growing up -- usually Sunday after church for a quick lunch.
However, 1) I eat healthier now and 2) I'm gluten intolerant. However, I did recently discover instant noodles with rice noodles--pricier but worth the occasional eating.
When I lived in LA and before I was diagnosed with the gluten problem, I REALLY liked the Japanese ramenyas around. That stuff, I really miss. Cup of Noodles and the stuff in the bags? I only miss for nostalgia's sake.

I like the ones in the bag, the original ones, but not so much the ones in the cups.

At Sam's elementary school, the kids used to bring ramen noodles for snack. They would eat them dry out of the bag.
I've never fixed ramen noodles, nor have I ever eaten them.

I eat them to this day, my father does also(born in and grew up in Tokyo). They certainly aren't fine dining, but it is sort of like having rice every day instead of potatoes. Just the way I grew up.

Ramen noodles were a dietary staple for me as an undergrad and in grad school. Haven't had them in ages, although I always liked them.

I still eat em', but try to keep it few and far between. I like to get the spicy shrimp flavor, then add onions, red peppers, carrots, Sriracha and some Thai Basil from the garden. Tricked out Ramen is the best!

I have never held the desire to eat them, but I somehow knew that someone amongst us, would have twisted them into a component of gourmet fare.Miles wrote:I still eat em', but try to keep it few and far between. Re: Ramon Noodles - Do You Eat Them?
Cracked me up. Noodles were a staple for both me and Mrs. Turk when we were single and carefree. (always cooked, never dry - that sounds just nasty - I shudder at the thought). We keep a few packs in the house whenever someone needs a quick meal. Also, it's a good bounceback food whenever one of the young Turks is recovering from some sort of gastrointestinal distress. If they can keep that down, they'll soon be able to start eating real food again. Everyone should have some packs on hand...YmoBeThere wrote:http://shine.yahoo.com/channel/food/on- ... r-2508159/
So we're having supper over at the in-laws, and Mrs. Turk's mother has tripped over some variation of ramen noodle salad recipe above. I had a hard time eating it with a straight face, but I managed to pull it off like the respectful and polite S-I-L that I am...

Re: Ramon Noodles - Do You Eat Them?
I ate them a few times in high school and college when I was desperate, but I never really became a huge consumer of them. My wife, however, when she was in college and poor, lived on them for almost two years. Probably explains a lot.

I always eat a Big Mac and fries after gastrointestinal distress. I figure if that stays down, everything is good.
