Here are a couple of articles on 2012 target Mike Summers:
http://bluedevilnation.net/2011/05/duke ... e-in-june/
http://bluedevilnation.net/2011/03/mich ... uke-offer/
Summers is 6'1" 190 and says colleges are looking at him to play running back, slot receiver or safety.

Re: 2012 Recruiting
There's a link to a great article on Deion Williams at dukeupdate.com. I'd post it, but I thought I'd send you through them so they get a few extra hits to the site.
I was concerned when no one else had offered Williams, but I liked what his coach said about his game. This isn't a direct quote, but something to the effect of...When this guy hits someone there's no yards after contact.

Love Dukeupdate.com, I've always made sure they are linked on our front page. (And they nicely reciprocated.) Love this quote from the article..The Football Fan wrote:There's a link to a great article on Deion Williams at dukeupdate.com. Stanford was the other school Williams seriously considered. He visited Duke in March, accompanied by his mother.
"Here's how much he liked it," Kunau said, starting to laugh. "I said, 'OK, Deion, on a scale of one to 10, how would you rate your visit to Duke?' He looked at me and smiled and said, '37.'

This young man comes from a family of good athletes! His grandfather is Dave Sime, a Duke great from the late fifties, early sixties. http://www.goduke.com/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=220802Bob Green wrote:WR Max McCaffrey (6'3" 190) has verbally committed to Duke:

Re: 2012 Recruiting
Glad to see recruiting is going well.
Any thoughts, on the 2011 football season. I think the ACC, has an overall good Football league, and is very competitive. Not the SEC, but still a good league.
And we have a Great Coach and football staff!

Re: 2012 Recruiting
As a recap thus far...
7 recruits, all have a 3 star ranking on at least 1 of 3 main evaluation sites (Scout, Rivals, ESPN)
None have a 3 star ranking on all sites, but then it's early in the process and none have a 2 star ranking, so they are listed as having a 3 star ranking or NR. 4 of 7 have 3 star rankings on 2 sites.
I would contend that while rankings are not always accurate, by and large a 4 star is much much better than a 2. On most days, a handful of 3s will beat a handful of 2s and so on. To be competitive for a bowl in the ACC, your program needs a strong group of 3s and an occasional 4. Coaching takes you over the top if you're close.
Essentially, this looks like a very solid group. I haven't seen any of these fellows and I'm just going by the rankings, but they would appear to be an unspectacular, but solid group. If the program continues on this pace we'd expect great competition to continue for these positions.
I'd still like to see a solid 3 star or better DT, Left Tackle and RB. I'm also hoping we can pull in a 4 star QB for the future. Another 3-4 start linebacker would also be nice.

Who is the seventh recruit? I only know of six verbal commitments: Allen Jackson (DE), Dwayne Norman (DB), Erich Schneider (WR), Max McCaffrey (WR), Deion Williams (LB) and Carlos Wray (DE).The Football Fan wrote:7 recruits, all have a 3 star ranking on at least 1 of 3 main evaluation sites (Scout, Rivals, ESPN)

More recruiting info:
http://bluedevilnation.net/2011/06/foot ... 6-24-2011/
There is some good info on possible QB recruits. Plus Duke is up to nine verbal commitments now with Kicker Ross Martin being the latest.

#1 or #2 kicker in the country depending on which site you look at. I'm loving the size we're seeing..and I'm assuming they have speed too, since Cut stresses it.Bob Green wrote:More recruiting info:
