No surprise at all, and a smart decision. Still a bummer. The very best wishes to Kyrie.

Good luck Kyrie.
He was fun to watch. Both on and off the court, he was a true teamate.

This, together with the Zeller/Henson news and the monster team the heels are looking forward to next year sorta takes the wind out of some sails today.

As I fan, I wanted him to stay. Really really wanted him to stay. On the other hand, if I were his parent I would have told him to go. Athlete's careers are fragile and fleeting...if he isn't going to stay and earn a degree (and that was never on the table as I understand it) he should pursue financial security and secure his own future.

Fair winds and following seas Kyrie - we hardly knew ya. :((

Being a top pick potentially, and a top 3 pick definitely, this is no big surprise to any of us I would think. Just so hard to say no to leaving with that type of prestige and money waiting for them. Would have been nice to see him with Austin in the back court next season, but we still have some pretty good guys in Seth and Dre to pair with him so we're not going 8-20 :)) :9f:

And, I feel confident that if Coach K didn't feel he was ready and able, both talentwise and on an emotional level,
he would say so. I would wish to see him at the collegiate level but I wish the best for him, whatever it is.

Well, for all I care, he can go to Hell.

I mean, I love my co-workers here where I work. If I were told I could make millions and millions and millions and millions hand over fist in a few months by playing hoops and endorsing deodorant with SI Swimsuit models, and I knew the same offer may.... or may not be there a year and a half later, do you think I'd really jump at that? How shallow can one be?

I'd like to think I'd stay here with my loving co-workers. It's all about loyalty. Who cares if I struggle with bills and sweat at night wondering how in the hell I'll pay the rent? Can you imagine a life without office deadlines? How awful. No. Staying with my company another year would be worth the gamble. I mean, deep down, I know the company just wants me to be happy. Owners in the NBA don't want that. They just care about the mighty dollar and winning. Corporations truly love their employees. They even often state it in their employee handbooks (e.g. "Welcome to our company! At [company name], we care about you and thus offer you the very best in resources to ensure you have a bright future with us, growing like a fresh flower in a fertile field of revenue that will give you life, liberty and joy through sustained growth, structure, and a clear path to the golden ladder that leads to the diamond-studded penthouse of our loving company.")

How could you give that up for what they are offering Kyrie. I feel sorry for him.

-EarlJam, who is very much full of shit. Yes, I'm bummed, but you can't find fault with his decision. Go Kyrie! Kick some arse!

This really sounds a lot like my situation. :)) What a dilemma. I don't care 'bout the money. I'm just there for the people.

Looking at my job, when one rakes away all the glitz, all one is left with is glamour. B-)
