They didn't have Muppets when I was a kid.

We had Captain Kangaroo with Bunny Rabbit and Mr. Moose.

I call BS. We are the same demographic and I distinctly remember Sesame Street on TV in 3rd grade. Our resident bully tried to divide us into "Cookie Monsters" (his friends) and "Soggy Monsters" (his enemies).

And while the Captain was truly righteous, we must also pay homage to a truly great and gentle man:

Well, yes, we had Sesame Street in the 3rd grade, but by that time, I already knew my letters and numbers, and was reading Beverly Cleary's Ramona and Beezus novels. I was involved in after-school activities like Girl Scouts, piano lessons, dance lessons and choir, and Mom didn't plop me in front of the television so much then, except for Friday nights when my standard fare was The Brady Bunch followed by The Partridge Family.

My younger brothers watched Sesame Street and Mr. Rogers, so I'm familiar with them, but they were not "my" shows.

I still have the book "Miss Piggy's Guide to Life".

My mother met Mr. Greenjeans.

A friend from soccer moved to FL a number of years ago to work for Captain Kangaroo.

I remember Romper Room.

A new muppet movie would be awesome, especially since I have kids to take to it so I won't look totally weird and creepy.

I have the muppet dvds and some of the fraggle rock ones. I grew up listening to the Muppet Christmas with John Denver on my record player. I listened to that every year almost every day during December. Then listened to my Star Wars 8 track and my Ghostbusters soundtrack vinyl the rest of the year.

I loved Pigs in Space too, but Waldorf and Statler, Bunson Honeydew and Beaker, and the Swedish Chef were my favorites.

I'll admit that I once owned an, ahem, glass pipe named Dr. Teeth. The colors just called for that name.

I'm watching "The Great Muppet Caper". I haven't seen this one in a looooong time. Favorite line so far (of so many to choose from).. a girl sees Kermit sitting on a park bench and says "Look daddy, it's a bear". "That's a frog, honey. Bears wear hats".

The first poster for this fall's new Muppet feature has debuted. Release date Wednesday, November 23. I'm already trying to figure out how to delicately explain to my family that I'll be later than usual for the Thanksgiving gathering because I have to see the new Muppet film the day it comes out.
