Quitting Smoking Vibes Needed (In A Big Way)

So I've decided to quit smoking and I need some vibes please.
I smoked my last cigarette about 1pm today and immediately slapped on a nicotine patch. I am hoping this method works but, right now, I am seriously needed a smoke and am not at all enjoying this experience. If I can make it through to tonight without smoking I am hoping that tomorrow will be better after a night's sleep. But I am concerned about having a smoke here and there. If I do that, I will never quit.
So I could really use as many vibes as possible please.

More vibes coming at cha!!! Do you have the 21mg patch on? If not, you need it. I used the patch to quit and would rub it when I had a baddish craving. One thing that kept me from smoking was that I knew I could have a heart attack from smoking with the patch on (nicotine overdose) I also knew that it wouldn't be safe to smoke for 3 hours after removing the patch, so what was the point? If you have weird dreams with it on, just take it off when you go to bed.
Hang in there. You can do this. As I told my son once, "isn't it good not to be the tobacco company's bitch any longer
" ???!!!

Major NASCAR vibes to you colchar!! And some NHL ones too!!
Should we expect a daily photo of Windsor's daughter posted here during the first trying days of kicking the ciggies? That might help colchar kick the ciggie habit.

Whoa! If Windsor's daughter doesn't convince you, I don't know what will. other than what did it for me.......bragging to a Tarheel fan that I quit before he did. One can never go back after that.
Godspeed and good luck. This is important. Do it for yourself. Do it for Blue Devil Pride!!!! Here are vibes, vibes and more vibes!!!!!
Love, Ima

Hurrah for you, Colchar!! Just deciding to quit is huge! You can definitely beat the evil nicotine addiction, and ultimately the smoking habit, with some willpower, the patch, and help from your friends.
Big, huge, hugs to you, and major vibes your way. YOU CAN DO IT!

Yes, I am using the 21mg patch. I was a dedicated pack a day man so there was absolutely no way I could have started with a lower dosage patch as that would have been a recipe for failure and I really want to give myself a fighting chance at accomplishing this.

I just came back from picking up some Rosebuds (the chocolate things). I got both regular and mint. I had gone out to get some leftover Halloween candy but there was none left in the store. I'll check another couple of stores tomorrow to see what they have. I will also pick up toothpicks to give myself something to do with my hands and mouth. Now if only I could find the cinnamon flavoured toothpicks from when I was a kid...

After Mom's comment about Cherry stems in the other thread I'm pretty sure daily pictures of my wife-to-be would make my head explode...

Well I guess I should post my first update.
Wearing the patch is a little strange as I am bit lightheaded but nothing to worry about as I expect I will get used to this nicotine delivery system fairly quickly.
I have had some big cravings but managed to sleep for a couple of hours which took care of them for the time being. The biggest problem is behavior as I keep feeling that I should be smoking at particular times. Like right now. But, thus far, I have managed not to give in. As someone who was a dedicated pack a day smoker (and up here we have packs with either twenty or twenty-five cigarettes in them and I always smoked the larger packs) I am proud to say that I have not had a smoke in almost ten hours now - and that is unbelievable for me. Previously, the only time I would ever go that long without smoking would be if I was sleeping.
But it has been almost ten hours now and I still haven't slipped. The cravings suck but, to be honest, aren't quite as bad as I had expected them to be so I think the nicotine patch is really working. As I keep going with this it will be interesting to see how I do when I move down to a lower dosage of nicotine, then to the lowest dosage, and finally to no patch at all. But those are challenges for another day. For right now all I have to do is make it to bedtime without caving in and running out to buy smokes (unfortunately, I am nowhere hear being tired and won't crash for another few hours). I know someone here mentioned that you are not supposed to smoke for three hours after removing the patch but I am dumb enough not to care. But I have resisted temptation thus far and am determined to make it until bedtime. Hopefully tomorrow will be that little bit easier. I am kind of curious how I will fare as I have some driving to do tomorrow and I love smoking when I am driving. Maybe I'll put that off for another day or two until I am more accustomed to not smoking.
Alright, my apologies for rambling on as I have but typing this long an update is just yet another way to occupy myself for a few minutes and avoid caving in and smoking during that time. If I post more long updates like this over the next few days or couple of weeks please excuse me - I'm simply trying to occupy myself as much as I can. Those here who have already successfully quit will understand.
I'm almost at the ten hour mark and honestly think I am going to make it through the day without caving in. For me, that is an unfathomable accomplishment. Normally, I'd celebrate an accomplishment by having a drink and a smoke but tonight I think I will celebrate by playing some guitar. I think I've figured out how to play chords without muting other strings so I want to get some practice in so that the technique becomes a habit. Maybe I can replace my shitty smoking habit with a good guitar playing habit.
Thanks for listening everyone.
