This is just terrible news for some homeowners...

Man, I feel terrible for people affected by this Chinese drywall thing, but what can be done? I guess suing the homebuilder is the only option.

And that probably won't get the homeowners anywhere. The CGL policies issued to the contractors likely won't cover this (although Florida has some of the most favorable CGL laws in the country). In the end these homeowners will have to take the paltry settlement offers they get from both their homeowners insurers and the contractor's CGL carriers, neither of which will come close to making them whole.

While we have favorable CGL laws - we have an entire insurance industry looking for a reason to drop homeowner's policies!
