All you scrabble and crossword experts, writers, historians, etc. out there, I need some help!

Does anybody know a word for ruler or leader or king or emperor etc. that starts with the letter "G" or "Q" (not feminine like "Queen")?

Thanks.

Great answer. I hadn't even thought of that. I'm looking for something a little stronger than governor though. Governor really isn't a RULER on the level of a king or an emperor, at least I don't think so. I found a word, gerent, that I'm considering, but most people aren't familiar with that one, I think.

Out of curiosity, why does it have to start with either of those letters?

Personally, I like Caliph; or Kaiser; or Czar/Tzar/Tsar; Khan (but that's kind of Trekkie these days); or Emir. Hierophant is good too, but a little less force-powerful, more mystical-powerful.

I'm trying to make it fit the acronym "STG" or "STQ". It's for a project I'm working on, related to my writing.

With the T in the middle, I guess I could use Tzar or Tsar.
