WHY, when you blow in a dog's face, does he get snarly at you, but when you take him for a car ride he sticks his head out the window and drools everywhere?

Wow, what a great question. My wife's dog will snap at you after the third time blowing in her face. She growls the first two. That's the only time she will ever try to bite.

Maybe it's a simple matter of choice?
In one instance, when you blow in the dogs face, the dog is confronted and their face blown, which makes then recoil and lash out.
However in the car, it is their choice to stick their head out the window and air out their nostrils.
Plus it is not as confrontational. Just a guess/opinion/thought/ramble

DING DING DING WINNER - it is indeed - if you are close enough to blow in their face your definitely in their space and they don't really like the blowing part. Hanging out the car window they are smelling the world - that's why they do it...it has nothing to do with the wind blowing.

My wife's dog does not mind invading my personal space when squeezes herself in on the couch. She'll lay on top of me if she has to. (She's not a skinny dog either). Her and I are still working out our space issues.

You are probably right. Maggie, the one that's as dumb as a rock, loves to smell your breath and lick your face. I bet she'll take it as an invitation to try to lick my face, mouth, nose, etc.

Mia, the bright one, will probably get irritated, shake her head and try to leave. I don't think she'd growl or snap over it.

See I was thinking that maybe if you were screwing with the dog, he'd know it and that would explain the snarly response.

I just did it to our dog and all she did was wag her tail and lick me. She knows we hate it when she licks us but I gave her a mulligan since I was the one who was in her face.

Blowing in the dog's face usually just got a sneeze from the dog when I would try this. Dog with head out the window - no sneeze. Go figure.

LOL - I used to get those sneezes also! Then.... my "little buddy" (great dog, no inferences there.... ) would get soo excited, that all of a sudden I'd have front legs wrapped around my thigh/knee.... apparently the breath was rather stimulating!!! ..... I'm thinking I don't need to continue :oops: :oops: :oops: :oops:

What can the Endowed Professor say? YOU ARE TOO SHARP!!!!

Walter doesn't like if I blow in his face. Very occasionally, he'll sort of halfheartedly snap at me, but usually, he just shakes his head and departs.
I always blow in his face if he's up in my grill and I don't want him there.
