I agree with you. He was terrific. I loved him, especially in Dirty Dancing. He was way too young to go. Very sad.

OMG! I figured he didn't have long considering he had pancreatic cancer. May you rest in peace Patrick, thank you for Dirty Dancing. Prayers for his family as they begin life without him.

One of Patrick Swayze's most memorable movie scenes, from Ghost:

“The invention of basketball was not an accident. It was developed to meet a need. Those boys simply would not play 'Drop the Handkerchief.'”

It's always sad to see someone go so young. My gandpa died of pancreatic cancer as well, it's a real nasty killer. Glad Patrick had some time to enjoy his family before he went.

I do have to say, though, that if another one of my friends puts up a Facebook status about "baby in the corner" I'm going to vomit.

I think more people should remember Patrick for his finest work:

Let us not forget some of his other, kickass roles:
Red Dawn
Road House
and I guess Point Break should get a shout too.

Hey actually survived a LONG time. Pancreatic cancer sufferers RARELY last that long.

My wife is pretty down about it. One of her favorite movies of all time was Dirty Dancing.

I liked him in Ghost the best.
Red Dawn was awesome too.
His role in North & South too.

But there were other, more "minor" roles he was in that was good too.
What about the episode of M*A*S*H he was in (honest!)

If there is any consolation to this, at least we still have his look alike (younger) brother Don who is also an actor

I loved 'To Wong Foo Thanks for Everything Julie Newmar'

Too much time in the East Village in NYC for me I guess.

Yea, his role in MASH was awesome.

I liked Red Dawn too.

I COMPLETELY forgot about North And South. I liked that mini-series. My wife LOVED him in that. She has a funny story about that. She watched it when she was a kid when it was first on. She couldn't understand why her friends were so disgusted when Kirstie Alley's character was getting it on with the slave. Being from the South, I guess she should have.

I presume what he meant was being from the south, a majority of folks back then would be disgusted that a white woman would hook up with a slave, much less a black guy. Wifey of Bjornwolf was not of that thinking and thusly, could not understand her buddies thinking/disgust.

Exactly. I didn't write that very well at all, did I.

Congrats to to Wifey of Bjornwolf for not being disgusted; that part I got. It's the "Being from the South, I guess she should have." part that gets to me. Most likely without meaning offense, the last statement implies that Southerners should be offended by interracial relations. But I'm guessing now that you were saying that your wife's friends thought she should have been.

No, what I was trying to say was that a lot of the people around where she grew up are rather narrow minded about that kind of thing. Mixed couples still cause a bit of a stir there. Being where she's from and knowing what she knows, she probably shouldn't have been so surprised by her friends' reactions. That's what I was trying to say. I didn't mean that all Southerners are that way. That was poorly phrased.

Me too, I went and saw it in the theater. My friends and I were excited because it was the first PG-13 movie released.
They are remaking it. The remake will suck...I don't even see the point since the cold war is over.

I was reminded of one additional role he was in that I had previously left off. And it was a great one....
he was in a skit.
no no, THE SKIT on SNL with Chris Farley as Chippendale Dancers!
